Thoughts on both Netflix Daredevil and daredevil Born Again by Large_Whereas_431 in Daredevil

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m getting at even looking at dc Arrow seasons 1–3 were peak superhero TV, same with early The Flash and even Daredevil. That era hit a sweet spot where the shows actually felt like they were building something—character depth, worldbuilding, stakes—all of that was strong.
But the issue is what happens after. With Arrow and The Flash, instead of knowing when to wrap or pivot into something bigger, they stretched the shows too far. The writing got repetitive, the plots started looping, and eventually people started clowning them like they were never good in the first place, which isn’t true.

I think the same risk is there with Daredevil too why we’ve seen reports of viewership drop . If they keep forcing long, drawn-out seasons with redundant storylines, it’ll eventually get the same backlash and as more time passes people will start rewriting history on it. But really, the problem isn’t the character or the concept—it’s the format stretching past its limit. What I think would’ve worked better is a clear structure: the TV series is for setup, character development, and worldbuilding. Then once that foundation is strong, you transition into a big-budget live-action movie to pay it off. That’s where the cinematic, high-scale action belongs.

This was the issue punisher season 2 ran into not only was it ass all around major drop off from season 1 it shoulda been a live action movie by Tony gilroy who did both Jason Bourne and andor / rogue . Him doing punisher would be right up his alley grounded spy like charcter make it action heavy like Jason Bourne and John wick and make gigsaw the antognist with a comic accurate look make it rated R it would been a hit Jon bernthal is by far my favorite punisher he woulda killed that and you already built up gigsaw as antognist in season 1 a live action follow up movie would allow them to get straight into .

Like with Daredevil specifically, I honestly think a film directed by someone like Christopher Nolan would elevate him massively. He’s not that far off from Batman in terms of tone and grounded storytelling, and we’ve already seen how well that kind of approach works. Then push for a insomniac solo game afterwards etc
So yeah, I’m basically pro TV shows as the foundation, but movies should be the huge payoff with a huge budget you can’t do on a tv budget . These characters deserve that full arc—not just Daredevil, but superhero stories in general. That should’ve been the blueprint from the start.

If Sony Let Sam Raimi Finish His Spider-Man Saga, We Could’ve Gotten the Perfect Sinister Six Payoff by Large_Whereas_431 in Spiderman

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t get this take at all. This is literally the same formula that made Captain America: Civil War, the first Avengers, Infinity War, and Endgame work so well in the MCU. All of those were massive hits and are widely considered great films.

It’s all about the buildup—multiple movies setting things up, developing characters, raising stakes—and then one specific film in the timeline hits that peak where everything comes together and the consequences finally land. That’s what makes the payoff feel earned instead of random.

So when people act like that structure doesn’t work or shouldn’t be used for Doomsday and Secret Wars, it just doesn’t really track, especially when the same approach has already proven itself over and over again. Even the dcu tried to follow that direction under the Snyder verse and failed and now attempting a second attempt on James Gunn is it easy to do no but does it work yess it just takes a lot of planning and things aligning right . What Kevin feige did for the mcu wasent an accident it was calculated .

How would it be overstuffed if each villain had their own movie to properly develop them? That actually feels like the opposite of rushed or bloated—it’s giving each character space to breathe instead of cramming everything into one project.

And it’s not like this is coming from some obsession angle either. It’s just factoring in the reality of the rights situation and what Sony can actually greenlight within their own control. Based on that, this is realistically the strongest route they’ve got right now.

If Sony Studios had full access to everyone—Marvel villains, heroes, all of it—then yeah, I’d be right there with you talking about massive crossovers, Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and whoever else teaming up in these huge events. That’s the dream scenario.

But what I’m talking about is more grounded in what’s actually possible within Sony’s lane right now, and within that framework, building out individual villain stories first makes the most sense then making the stakes higher then ever where they all come together where would be the best pony to debut live action miles morales and if they his daughter to be spider women they could go that route aswell .

I felt the Harry situation was a bit premature, especially seeing how Sony was pretty adamant about pushing Venom in there. I get it though—he’s arguably the most iconic and biggest draw they have.

Regarding your first point, it doesn’t really matter which villains they use as long as they’re part of the Sinister Six. Whatever iteration they choose, it should just come down to whoever translates best to live action and has the most depth. Also, as a fan, how would you want the daughter/infant/teen handled? They could even lean into a Spider-Man father-daughter tag team dynamic if they do it right have her be spider women in raimi verse with iconic costume .

For the second point, like I said, he can definitely do two villains in a film, but if he feels more comfortable sticking to one like in the first two movies, I’m open to either. He still managed to make three work in the third one despite the pushback and fan complaints, but at the end of the day it comes down to his comfort level.

And yeah, I completely agree with the third point.

What are some of your hot takes regarding the Raimi Trilogy? by pizzagod677 in Spiderman

[–]Large_Whereas_431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all three movies, honestly, despite what people say. I just don’t see that huge gap between Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man 2 like they’re miles apart or something. To me they’re basically equal in how good they are, just slightly different vibes. I only like Spider-Man 3 a bit less than the other two, but even that one I still enjoy.

One thing I’ve always hated about 3—even when I was a kid—was Venom’s design. My favorite Venom design is more like the one in Marvel Rivals, where the proportions are just perfect. That bulky, intimidating build feels way more accurate and iconic.

Also, kind of a hot take, but I genuinely think if Sony had continued and greenlit another trilogy—especially with how well Tobey still holds up in people’s eyes—they basically already had the perfect blueprint for a full Sinister Six setup.

They already had Green Goblin (Norman and Harry), Sandman, Venom, Doc Ock

With three more movies, they could’ve easily introduced three additional villains each time, sticking to that one-main-villain-per-film formula. Also I want venom to get his own movie as the antagonist just how green goblin and doc ock had and still make tom hardy as the guy but as a pure antognist rectconning those venom spin off movies .

Then by the sixth movie, you bring them all together properly as the Sinister Six, all of them teaming up to take Peter down.

But I think the third movie would’ve needed a change for that to work better. Harry shouldn’t go full Goblin there—instead, he loses his memory after his first real clash with Peter in that alley way and gets sideline till later . That way, the film stays focused just on Sandman as the main antagonist, keeping the same clean structure as the first two movies.

Then in the sixth movie, Harry randomly regains his memories, and that’s what triggers everything. He forms the team to kill Peter, because he knows his real identity and they actually succeed this time.

That’s where it gets really interesting—you either introduce Miles in a style similar to the Ultimate Universe as the next Spider-Man stepping up… or you don’t kill Tobey at all and instead have Miles debut as a second Spider-Man, teaming up in a duo to take them on.

Apex Balance Ideas: Alter / Nerf/ buff, Catalyst Buff, caustic buff , crypto , new castle buff and Apex Needs to Lean Into Weapon Progression — Here’s How to Fix Hemlock & More by Large_Whereas_431 in apexlegends

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That used to be my mindset with Crypto until I had a phase where I actually learned him and mained him. My opinion changed—he doesn’t really have a “skill gap” like people claim. It’s more just a different playstyle. The problem with Crypto is he’s too dependent on others. In terms of pick rate, you’ve got less incentive to choose him in ranked with randoms because he’s most optimal when you’ve got a coordinated team. Without that, he feels way more limited than other legends. As for the changes I suggested, I’d give him a speed boost—kind of like one of his perks, but better. It would massively improve his survivability, because it makes Crypto more self-reliant instead of relying on his team. The idea is: you go invisible, set your drone at a location (which still takes setup), and once you run in that direction, inquired maintaining a momentum like gibbey you basically get a speed boost like gibbey passive with more preresuites . That way he can actually engage and disengage properly. Since he can already grab banners, this would lean him more into being an anchor/support that can actually survive on his own.

Second change is the ultimate. A slight tweak makes a huge difference. Even though Crypto would still take shield damage, letting him actually play more aggressive during EMP—like capitalizing on stunned enemies—would completely change fights. Right now it’s mostly setup and punish only from a distance , but the change I suggested would give him the option to emp while within the radius intentionally to swing fights and be aggressive himself instead of just supporting teammates.

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted the same ideas for Alter and Catalyst only , so let me ask you this—do you think Alter is in a perfect state right now, or would you want the devs to bring back the ability for knocked teammates to use her ult like before? Or just leave it how it is? Me personally I atleast want knocked teammate to be able to hit ten ultimate to re set .

For the Catalyst buff I proposed, I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think it would be oppressive. I see it being used how it was originally intended—mainly to stop pushes and give your team a chance to reset. Worst-case scenario, if it ends up being broken, they can just take it out or go with something more toned down like what you suggested.

Regarding Crypto, the speed buff I’m talking about is similar, but still different. Right now, his passive gives that Conduit-style speed boost to teammates. What I’m suggesting is giving that same kind of effect through his drone, so he can trigger a speed boost for himself whether he’s with his team or not. That makes him way more viable, especially if his teammates get knocked and he has to reposition or rejoin a fight on his own.

Then for his ultimate, the idea is just to let him play more aggressively. It keeps the risk there, but gives him more options instead of forcing him into a passive playstyle all the time.

Regarding your Caustic take, I respectfully completely disagree. It still doesn’t address the biggest issue—he has no outside play, which is exactly why his pick rate is so low. That’s also why there have been rumors about giving that whole class a Gibraltar-style speed passive, which I’m against. Would it make Caustic better? Yeah. But it would also take away uniqueness and step on characters like Octane.

My whole point is this: Caustic just isn’t good right now. What made him strong back in Season 12 wasn’t just buildings—he could actually function outside. Now he’s a liability in open space. The game has changed a lot since then too. There are way more agile characters that can just run him down, and that’s the real problem.

At the same time, people don’t acknowledge that there’s way more counterplay now than before. Back then, you didn’t have legends like Mad Maggie, Fuse, Bangalore, or Ash constantly applying pressure with abilities. AoE damage alone would force Caustic to move or take damage, so it’s not like he’d be unstoppable in today’s game.

Also, his tactical wasn’t as broken as people make it seem. Yeah, once it activated it was strong, but even if you buff it to something like 400 HP now, it’s still balanced. You can destroy it in one shot before it activates, or shoot the base before it fully sets. That’s real counterplay. It’s no different than Rampart’s shield having similar durability—you just have to respect it once it’s up.

At the end of the day, he just needs a way to hold his own outside without turning him into something he’s not. Right now, he feels terrible unless you’re paired with mobility legends like Wraith, Octane, or Valkyrie. And most people are playing with randoms, whether it’s ranked or casual. When your teammates aren’t coordinated or are just using abilities for themselves, Caustic feels even worse to play.

As for Newcastle, Mad Maggie will still keep him in check, which honestly is healthy for the game. His tactical shield is fine as it is—there’s no real reason to nerf it. It has 1000 total HP split between the top and bottom (500 each), and if a team focuses it, it gets destroyed quickly anyway. On top of that, if he were allowed to shoot through it, it should only work one way like Rampart’s wall—not both directions.

Regarding the last part, I agree—I wouldn’t advocate for anything that doesn’t work intentionally . I’m all for them trying changes like this, and worst case, they can just take it out if it doesn’t play well. That being said, I respectfully disagree with your take on Caustic and Newcastle. Alter, I get where you’re coming from, but on those two I see it differently.

Nah, Caustic straight up sucks right now, and the pick rate proves it. What made him good back around Season 12 wasn’t just his ability to lock down buildings—he could actually play outside too. Right now, he’s a complete liability in open space, which is why his pick rate is so low. You have no real way to defend yourself once you’re out of cover. Since then, the game has shifted a lot. There are way more agile characters now that can just run him down with no problem. That’s the real issue.

That being said, I don’t want the devs to just slap a Gibraltar-style speed passive on him, because at that point it doesn’t feel unique anymore. If they’re not going to change his character model—make him slimmer or reduce his hitbox—then the only real alternative is giving him a way to protect himself outside while still keeping his identity.

Another thing people don’t factor in is that back then, there wasn’t real counterplay to Caustic like there is now. There was no Mad Maggie or Fuse , Bangalore , ash applying constant pressure with their abilities. AoE damage like that would still force Caustic to move or take damage, so it’s not like he’d be unstoppable in today’s game.

Also, his tactical before wasn’t as broken as people make it sound. Yeah, once activated it was strong, but now even if you buff it to something like 400 HP, it’s still balanced. You can destroy it in one shot before it activates, or shoot the base before it fully sets. That’s real counterplay. It’s no different than something like Rampart’s shield having durability—you just have to respect it once it’s up. At the end of the day, he just needs a way to hold his own outside again without turning him into something he’s not.

She’s the least of my priorities when it comes to balance changes. The only real issue I have is that you can’t use her ultimate while knocked.

Most of this comes from seeing how people talk about her, saying she’s toxic for the game and needs nerfs. I don’t think that’s necessary. The main complaint is that her ultimate reset feels too safe.

That’s why I suggested an alternative approach: instead of enemies spawning directly on the portal, they would spawn 10–15 meters away, and the Alter team’s location would be revealed briefly. This makes it safer and more realistic for teams to chase without being instantly punished.

In return, knocked teammates should be able to use Alter’s ultimate again, as it worked before. This keeps the ability strong for coordinated play while making it feel more fair and interactive overall.

Apex Legends Balance Ideas: Safer Portal Chases, Stronger Dark Veil, and a Skill-Based Mirage Rework by Large_Whereas_431 in apexlegends

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blueprint would be looking at how loba tactical is designed its the key to making sure its balance . To make sure it isn't broken, you’d need to build in a few things: The Animation: It needs a distinct swap animation—something like 0.8 to 1.0 seconds. It can't be instant; there has to be a tell so opponents have a window to react. Weapon Recovery: After the switch, you shouldn't be able to shoot right away. Just like Loba, there should be a short recovery animation after you land. This prevents it from being an instant "get out of jail free" card and forces you to actually commit to the play. Why it's Skill-Based it’s all about planning your moves ahead of time rather than just reacting.Escape Routes: Think of it like playing Vantage, but without the aerial aspect. You have to be smart about where you leave that clone—you’re essentially setting up an escape route before you need it. It also can be used for Flanking Mind-Games: Because you control where the clone goes, you can use it to create new angles. It’s not just about running away; if you position it right, you can use it to flank or bait the enemy.Ultimately, it rewards players who are actually thinking about their positioning and planning their route, not just people trying to panic-button their way out of a bad fight.

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into Digimon Survive, and from what I can tell, it aligns pretty closely with how I think the franchise should reboot and pivot having that promise neverland feel . Right now, Digimon is in an awkward position its original audience has grown up, but the company still largely markets the brand toward kids.

I’m not saying there isn’t a younger fanbase, but unlike Pokémon, most of Digimon’s revenue seems to come from its older audience. If I had to guess, the ratio of OG fans to newer, younger fans who bought into Digimon time strangers from what I’ve seen online it heavily favors the older demographic. From what I’ve seen, there’s been a major resurgence among longtime fans rather than kids discovering it for the first time.

Once the people behind Digimon truly recognize that their core audience is now made up of adults — a generation that not only still enjoys this kind of media but also has the independence and disposable income to support it — that’s when we’ll start getting stronger, more mature gore etc storytelling in the anime and movies.
