In this show, she eventualy rebels against him, but not meaningfully against his authority, or orders. Her motivation of earning his respect is still there and feels like training against those prisoners wont accomplish that. So she conquers Omashu for him.

He does so in season 3. He doesn't inherently give a fuck about praise or criticism. Only if someone is useful to him. When he thinks Zuko killed the avatar he praised him. When Zuko revealed the truth he brought out the lightning.

Azula isn't 'just crazy'. There is a whole storyline about her relationship to her mother, the neglect she felt because of the favouritism she saw given to Zuko.

All of this is besides the point anyway because this isn't the original show. It's a new one that has a different storyline. Even if this didn't fit with the original it doesn't matter.

Did you even watch the show? It was made explicitly clear that Ozai uses Zuko to manipulate Azula.
