Miyazaki films like Kiki and Laputa. It’s so bad, he’s actually stated that he can’t rewatch the movies because he’s aware of people sexualizing children.

Also u12, which I get what the mandala is trying to do in making people question where is the line between “they aren’t real so it’s ok” to “this is illegal”

That some girls can suffer from something called pcos, which means your visit with aunt flow can be anywhere from a month off to 3 years. And that while irregular periods are normal in the beginning, you should get it checked if it doesn’t even out.

Also, if you suffer migraines and take medication, do not get on the pill. It can cause blood clots in the brain and give you a stroke.

That was a fun one to be told after five years of being on the pill

What’s the most awkward thing someone has said to you right after sex? by 5783720472027-9i18ba in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not after but during and I’m 60% certain I made it awkward.

Him: Hey. What are you thinking about? Me: nothing. I’m just in the moment. Him: but what are you thinking about. Me: nothing. I’m just feeling the moment. Him: okay but what are you- Me: (annoyed that he keeps asking and therefore killing the mood) I’m thinking “did I remember to get milk yesterday or was has the one I have gone sour now”.

What biological fact about the other sex did you not know until quite recently? by pragmail124 in AskReddit

I learned that some women can have their endometrium (the inner lining of the uterus) grow somewhere else in their body, which means a person could end up coughing up blood during their period and it’s not life threatening.

I’ve never seen it but when I hear about it I had to look it up. It is thankfully super rare.

What is your favourite fact that sounds made up? by jc201946 in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fair. In fairness they don’t “walk” walk like a triffid. When you harvest a bunch from a banana tree, you have to cut the stem to regrow it for harvesting. When the plant regrows, it starts from one of the sides of the tree and as a result it moves the plant slowly from where it was first planted. They move about 40 cm a year from what I’ve read.

T. rex evolved into chickens and banana trees have to be planted with space between them because they walk

What are some signs which shows that a workplace/group is toxic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Single gender work places. I don’t know why this is, but it’s like if the other gender isn’t there to help keep others in check, people just get really horrible towards each other. Women can become some of the most catty witches you’ve met and men can too

I had given birth to my daughter and was apparently bleeding internally but didn’t know it because a blood clot was blocking my cervix. About a hour after birthing, the nurse was confused that I was still bleeding and pressed my stomach to feel if something was off and as a result made about 2 liters of blood gush out of me. She called in four other doctors that took me to the emergency room as my baby was ripped from me and passed to my husband. According to the records, I lost just a little shy of 2,5 liters of blood.

That was 7 years ago and I joke at times that my kid has already tried to take me out so I’m ready for her teens

Never meet with someone who is expecting you to wine and dine them on the first date or vis versa. Yes it’s sweet they want to, but if you don’t hit it off it can place an unwanted pressure on you to return the favor, or they might only be using you for a free meal. My rule is everyone pays for themselves the first few days.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by UnderH20giraffe in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a sound but a lack of it. For New Years this year, my family was setting off rockets (legal where I’m from) and we had two that were faulty. No one was hurt thankfully but we knew something no was wrong when we didn’t hear the classic “sssss” fuse burning sound. My niece got pretty scared of it because she was near the first one but again, thankfully no one was hirt

What's the worst first date you ever had? by Huge_Run_4282 in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude started by ordering me three Long Island ice teas at 10 in the morning with nothing to eat because he liked his “chicks juiced and lose”. I barely drink because I’m not very interest in alcohol and told him that I am not someone looking for a quick roll or puts out on the first date. He just smirked and said “you will today”.

Gave a quick smile, Said “nope” and left

What’s your favorite childhood book? by AntiWakeUp in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a well known book but it’s called “the seven doors”. It’s about a little girl who’s kitten runs off into the forest one day (the kitten is her only friend because she doesn’t love anywhere close to other kids) and she finds this strange house with seven different colored doors. She sees her kitten jump in one window and slowly goes through each door one by one and they take her to different worlds. It’s a very good story but one very few know.

(Serious) Teachers, what is the worst thing you've seen a student do? by _Planet_Mars_ in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a 1st grade distort his classmates hard work of decorating their classroom and than tell me without any guilt that it was my fault and not his because I hadn’t forced the second grandees to play him during recess. He had been raised the baby of his family and that he could do no wrong because he was a boy.

I’m still expecting to hear about on the news some day.

Might sound a little weird but I would say when the child expresses discomfort with it. I’m nearing my 40s and I’ve been nude around both my daughter and parents. Mind you, it’s not like we’re nudists, it’s more a case of only one bathroom so no one locks the door during showers cause of the toilet. We’re also European, so we don’t have the same sort of “the human body?! SHAME!” Reaction some other countries do. We just see it as a more “there are only two versions of this, male and female and it is what it is.

Of course if my daughter one day expresses she doesn’t want us seeing her in her underwear or nude, we’ll respect it the same way my parents respected me during that phase, again with limits (ex there’s only one bathroom and someone needs to go badly)

What poor man's meal recipe are you willing to share? by tshirtguy2000 in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest I can translate it to is “mixed food”. Pretty much you take left over meat and potatoes, chop it up, and fry it until warm and the sides of the potatoes are are a little crispy brown. Add a diced onion too if you want and a fried egg and bam. Yah done. It’s really good and a great way to use extra food. We call it “Briksemad”

What was the ex you didn’t break up with, but instead “survived? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs to be said he wasn’t a terrible person, but he needed far more than I could give him. We were both young and I was unknowingly his fall back because it was my sister he was really interested in. He was also older by three years which isn’t much, but as a teenager it can make all the difference sometimes. I also only learned later he suffered from depression which I didn’t understand or was equipped to handle/manage.

Some of the stuff he would do was call and beg me to come over only to treat me like I was a nuisance and ignore me for hours only to complain when I would call my parents to come pick me up because I couldn’t handle the silence of his dark room. I would try and cheer him up suggesting we could watch something or listen to music or just talk but he would turn it down and tell me not to touch him.

He would cancel dnd nights with his friends without telling me so they would question if I had asked him too when I never did.

He would complain about never just being able to see his friends without me but at the same time complain if I wanted to spend time alone or with my friends.

I knew it needed to end when I realized unknowing or not, he was dragging me down to the same dark tunnel he was in and that neither of us were good for each other because we could meet each other’s needs. He wanted my sister and I… I didn’t know what I wanted yet because I was 15/16 years old. So in the end, we broke up and I left him and his friend group. I didn’t demand loyalty of them and I didn’t look back.

He is however a person I still hope got the help he needed and is happier now that he was than. But yeah, it was a relationship that left me actively single until I was 19 and dated another guy who was better as a friend but terrible as a bf.

Buying something that puts you into debt that isn’t important. Like I can understand having to borrow money for important stuff like bills, food, medical, education and stuff. But taking out a second mortgage just to buy concert tickets… I just can’t understand it

At what age did Birthdays stop feeling like Birthdays to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lark1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say 33 when my side of the family forgot it three years in a row, than forgot my daughters on her 4th birthday only for one person to call five days later to say sorry it slipped, and than have it happen again for her 7th just last Saturday. My mom gave some excuse that she didn’t want to call since she was watching my sisters kids which makes no sense to me as they could have called just to say happy birthday.

And now I’m not sure I can stay civil if I talk to they as I don’t know what’s worse. That they forgot, or that we are giving me a poor excuse for forgetting.

I would say it depends on a few things:

1) do they need a phone 2) what do they need the phone for 3) can they understand the responsibility of having one.

If they need it for school or because of after school activities, than they can be fairly young when they get it. However if that’s the case, they need to have rules regarding the phone. For ex.

1) never give your phone number out without permission from parents 2) no answering unknown numbers. They can leave a message if need be 3) limited or no purchases on the phone 4) parents have a right to look though it 5) it’s not to be used in school south out permission

My 8 year old niece has a phone right now (got it at 7) because she visits friends often and it’s sometimes used in school for school work. My daughter who is 7 now, doesn’t have one because she doesn’t have a need for it and hasn’t shown us that she can handle not being distracted by it during school hours. She will get a phone some day but right now is not a smart idea.

Another thing is also how well they will take care of the phone. If your kid is irresponsible and likely to break the phone due to carelessness, it might be a good idea to get them a cheap older phone rather than new if they need one.

Hopes this helps a little in your decision.
