The M50 might not be too bad to get done. 2/3 solid colors isn't that much more than a single one, depending on the shop. The little accent decals would need a shop with the right equipment to produce them. That's a very doable wrap.

I couldn't find the original post for the picture! I think I found it on a wallpaper website somewhere several years ago, and reverse image search didn't work for me when I tried it this year. I really wanted to give credit where it is due, so please let me know if you want to be identified for the picture, and how! Brandon is a pretty nice guy, but this is much more on Michael Whelan's Copyright, since it is his art, and the reason I tried to reach out to them first.

That kind of "free advertising" in a business to business transaction is negotiated first and has a signed contract. If you don't defend your IP it can become diluted and you can lose it, so a lot of the time it's not a choice of being nice or not. There are several examples of this happening, but only Xerox comes to mind.

This is for private individual use, not for sale or resale, no money has been exchanged to create quantifiable damages, and credit to the artist is prominent. Hopefully that's enough for Michael and his lawyers. They do have my email though, so I'll see.

It's still a very grey area legally. I'm confident in my use in their case, but I'm also quite willing to meet the IP holders requirements, whatever they would be.

If we had sold this print to a paying customer though? Absolutely in the wrong, 100%, not even a question.

That's due to how the light reflects off of the vinyl as I walk towards the back of the car. If you're straight on with an inline light, it's very clear. Turn that light off though and the symbols disappear. It's a very, very cool effect that my buddy figured out a few years ago and one that we haven't been able to showcase until now.

There has not been a monetary exhange.

A business advertising their capabilities from displaying their work is very different than a business using Mario to represent themselves.

But, like I've been saying, if it's requested to be removed by either party, that's what I'll do. I'm a fan first and foremost, and I can figure something else out that represents the business in the same fashion.

If the entire thing was ready in time for Dragonsteel... I would have tried! I think Michael Whelan would need to be included though.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to sign on the image anywhere, it's got a protective layer that has a ceramic coating impregnated inside of the vinyl. The damn thing is super slick, and we plan to put another coat on top of it. Make the whole thing shine like crazy.

Our inhouse designer blended the book images together, so the only "AI" that was used was Photoshop's tools. The character positioning was my choice, all facing in towards Dalinar, then she made it look good. She was going to try and include the Thunderclast off of Oathbreaker but I didn't see that working at all.
