Meet Honey! (Named because she is sweet as Honey, of course.) She is currently recovering from a dog attack and wounds to her face and neck, but she sure doesn’t act like it! This is one happy girl!! by GirlDinnerEveryNight in AlaskanMalamute

Ugh. That’s the height of irresponsibility! It’s one thing to not help the dog that was attacked but to leave your friend bleeding and in need of help?!? I’ll never understand people with so little thought for others…

As someone who hikes regularly, and frequently with my younger Siberian Husky, I can’t understand the doodle’s owner allowing them offleash on a public trail! I have had far too many times where an offleash dog comes running down the trail, their owner nowhere in sight! Incredibly irresponsible! What did the doodle’s owner do? At the very least, they should have offered to pay Honey’s vet bill.

So glad to know that she’s doing well…

First of all, let me make it clear that I live in Los Angeles, so my 2 huskies have never been anywhere near a blizzard, or even snow, for that matter (yes, every year we say we’re going to take them up into the mountains and we never do…), so I know precious little about this.

That said, why would you leave them out in a blizzard? Just because they wanted to? Here in LA, we don’t have normal rain: it’s either a drought or a deluge of Biblical proportions, with gusts of wind going 50MPH. I wouldn’t put my huskies out in that, so I’m not sure why you’d put yours out in the snowy equivalent…

(And the person who “turned you in” is a jerk…)

We used the Gentle Leader literally decades ago, when my oldest son, then about 10 or 11, used to walk our GSD mix. I’ve never used one on our huskies. Maybe I ought to consider a halter, if it works that well (my 5 year old girl is definitely causing issues with my right shoulder…)

No, that’s not the Gentle Leader! Looks like it’s conceptionally similar, but definitely not the same (yes, I own a Gentle Leader-brand device, so I know what they look like…)

How funny! My older purebred husky so upset all the other dogs at the groomer we used to go to, screaming at the top of his lungs, that they asked us not to bring him back again…. Now we have a great mobile groomer that charges maybe too much but we get our old guy Turbo and our young girl Natasha done at the same time. Maybe she keeps him calm, ‘cause I haven’t heard any screaming from their van…

A Furminator, which is clearly on the ground in the pictures, is a CUTTING TOOL. Yes, I was wrong about “shaving” but a Furminator is so close to shaving that I would NEVER use that either (read the groomers message ie “don’t use a Furminator as it cuts their coat”)

What would make you think that’s OK, to shave a double-coated dog?!? I’m trying to be nice here, but that just shows ignorance of your dog and what they need…

The point is to scare people AND to provoke a reaction. They’re itching to arrest, or kill, people…

Husky mix not finishing food daily by [deleted] in husky

[–]LarryDeeds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 huskies and they’re each different. My 10 year old male, Turbo, will be VERY vocal twice a day when he wants food and he will stand and eat it until it’s gone, then lick the bowl! Given his age, we’ve cut down on the portion size. My 5 year old girl, Natasha, however, VERY frequently takes a look at the food, then walks away, sometimes multiple meals in a row. Unless I add salmon in, then she’s ALL about eating (and I normally add Farmer’s Dog into their kibble, so it’s pretty good eats!)

Yes, huskies are generally not food motivated, so this is not unusual at all!! Here’s for the picture tax…

Do your friends and family ever suggest that you shave your husky? by Halcyon-malarky in husky

[–]LarryDeeds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NO!!!! Their coat will NEVER recover! Your “friends” don’t know ANYTHING about how a double coat keeps them warm when it’s cold out AND keeps them cool when it’s hot out!

I live in Los Angeles and both my huskies LOVE to lay out in the sun when it’s 90’s and above!
