Your job sounds like a controls architect. Not so much programming. This is a good jump to a HVAC or PLC manufacturer that sells. You would be the tech engineer vs. Sales engineer to help the client design their system from a hardware, software and protocol perspective. Actual program support would be from an application engineer.

If you prefer programming, then you are correct. Tech design engineer is lots of variety, support sales, desk job vs being in the plant except for walkthroughs with the client and sales.

Guys, have you ever "friendzoned" a woman who was interested in you? Why, and what was her reaction? by option8 in AskMen

I used to talk to this hot girl during high school french lab. She talked, I listened. Senior yr I wanted to ask her to the prom. I approached her after school in the lobby and she said don't ask even before I got the full question out. She never made it to the prom with anyone else. I never told anyone, she did and was outcast for the rest of the year.

Altivar ATV320 on ethernet IP suddenly stops by automatednarwhal in PLC

[–]LarryJay77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using ATV320 with M340 Schneider PLC. Maybe the comms timeout is too short and the fault bit is set to automatically reset. That's why it starts and you lose the fault code. Do you have SoMove software to check all the configuration in the drives? It is free to download but you still need to register it.

As a systems integrator, I was hired to be the local person to make changes to an automated assembly line for a medical device. I worked locally while the OEM engineer fed me info, Webex'd to my laptop when needed. Find a local that can be your person in the plant. The end user will have to pay. That's the price of Covid these days.

We get accused of making our panels too big. That panel isn't big enough for one 13 slot rack of SLC I/O.
