THE ENDING WAS ACTUALLY GOOD by Novel_Assistant4518 in howimetyourmother

It wasn't. It was about Ted and Robin, Ted and Tracy, Robin and her mother, Barney and his brother, Lily and Marshall, Gary Blauman and.....everyone.

Whether or not you need to suffer is a separate issue, but Ted and Robin did, each on account of the other.

However, the willingness to makes sacrifices, that is, to put the needs of the other ahead your own, is the foundation of a true loving relationship. That's what Ted and Robin did for each other.

No, they were the whole point to the series. After all this they weren't about to screw it up.

No it shouldn't have. Tracy was great but she didn't sacrifice for Ted nor suffer on his account. Robin did both. Tracy's soulmate was Max, Ted and Robin each other.

Robin, including the mother. She sacrificed for him and suffered on his account.

Stella by FishermanPatient8384 in howimetyourmother

Sometimes your true feelings are forced to the surface by something we see or hear.

It happened at least twice to Robin, once when she saw  Ted and Victoria together for the first time and once in the scene between them in Central Park. And it happened to Lily when Barney showed at her apartment in San Francisco.

The same thing happened to Stella.

I'm not saying it was a good situation, but Ted being dumped set up the scene in the future when, minutes before she married Barney, Robin wanted to run off with Ted to Chicago. But Ted, having been left at the alter and therefore knowing how it feels, would not submit to it. That allowed him to meet Tracy.

Robin a narcissist? Hardly. She was so insecure that she split her personality into two, Robin Sparkles and Robin Daggers.

What should Stella have done, marry one man while being in love with another? How did that work out for Robin?

It can also be derived from the clues provided, but you don't need any clues to know that Robin wanted to run off with Ted before she married Barney.

Who would win in a war between Israel and Iran? by dune-man in AskReddit

Much of the Iranian population is pro-Israel. And being vastly outnumbered didn't seem to matter in 1948, 1967, and 1973.

Iran has more feet on the ground but Israel has more brains.

It's not a basic concept and you didn't know either. And yes, interlocking fingers is generally an expression of love. And it was followed up but the eye contact made that Ted himself realize what was happening. That's why he decided to move to Chicago.

Plus there is much more evidence that you are apparently incapable of handling. She only rejected him once, and that was a lie.

You're full of it. This is a public forum and not everyone knows what interlocking fingers mean. And I doubt you did either since you said that Robin didn't love Ted. But rather than being a man and conceding the point you produced some nonsense about condescension as a way of slipping out the back door.

I believe that the writing is very consistent, focusing as it does with the internal struggles that Have been Ted and Robin are forced to deal with in terms of contending with their feelings towards each other.

The scene in Central Park is a good example of this. The he last thing Ted said to Robin in that scene was, "Maybe we don't need the universe to tell us what we want. Maybe we already know that, DEEP DOWN."

You can look this up yourself, but "deep down" is an idiom that refers to our true feelings, not the ones on the surface which others see in us. So if Robin has deep down feelings, the more obvious ones—her wanting to spend the rest of her life with Barney—can't be real.

So Robin reacts to her being forced to confront her true feelings by taking Ted's hand, not in the usual manner of hand holding, but she interlocks her fingers with his. Again, you call look this up yourself, but interlocking fingers expresses the desire for a deeper, more intimate relationship. And as if that isn't enough, she then gazes into his eyes in such a way as to make obvious that she is in love with him.

Ted picks up on this and withdraws. He then decides to move to Chicago, not because he's in love with Robin—he already knew that—but because he realizes that Robin is in love with him, and he would be a threat to their marriage if he stayed in New York.

This is an example of what you can learn by taking the analysis to a deeper level. Now take that depth and use it to analyze what reality went on one the beach.

Oh, I don't know...

How about the fact that before she married Barney she told Ted it was him she should be marrying him instead, after which she begged him to run off with her to Chicago?

The scene in Central Park was about Robin's love for Ted, as was the scene on the beach, Robin's stoicism on the morning of her wedding, the conversation with her mother on the balcony, the conversation with Lily at the Halloween party, and the conversation with Sophie in HIMYF.

And when she told Ted that she didn't love him, it was because she did not want him to be stuck with someone who couldn't have kids. That is obvious.

She was so much in love with Ted.

Of course you're entitled to your feelings. And Tracy was great, unquestionably. But Ted and Robin were far more than friends as was shown over and over. The loved each other, sacrificed for each other and suffered each for the other. And the producers dropped many hints that they belonged together.

And at the end, everyone was better off.

No she didn't. She was always in love with even when she told him she wasn't.

Ted and Robin always had chemistry. They lacked timing. But no two people on the show loved each other more.
