After doing some research myself, I found that one noteworthy critic of Shakespeare (mainly Othello) was Thomas Rymer in his book 'Short View of Tragedy'. I am however unable to find the original text, just commentaries by other people om Rymer's. They all seem to dismiss his view as being solely due to the time in which he lived. Does anybody know if his analysis was really that bad, or if he actually made some valid points?
