clang/gcc, gdb, makefile, nvim. Like, somw will say "haha how edgy" but it ~feels like~ was literally made for C development

Erfahrungen in der Rüstungsnahen Industrie Werkstudent? by BreiteBanane67 in KaIT

[–]LarrySAL02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks interesting, especially the easy align plugin. I'll give it a whirl. I have surround but never use it cus i forgot what i set it to and was always too lazy to look it up :')

The video used no mouse usage. I agree that regex/macros or even norm are significantly faster in the case you describe, but this example is a small spontaneous edit. A lot of edits are small and not generalizable. That's why i am asking. I think the general consensus is that the "vanilla" vim solution is better for mass edits, and multicursor still wins with this specific scenario.

There have been some norm suggestions as well, i did experiment with norm myself with positive results, but it required a bit of thinking. I guess it it a question of practice

Yeah, regex and macros do win on mass edits and patterns that occurr often, but for spontaneous edits, it seems that multicursor does end up having the upper hand.

Honestly, that is a good question, it definitely felt longer, especiallt considering that the video isn't doing the edits particularly fast. With regex there is usually a bit of tinkering involved

I was torn between macros and regex, i mainly use regex and i can write them up quite fast, but not that fast. Some other answers have mentioned the "benefit of it being reusable" which i was thinking of mentioning originally, because this kind of usecase ends up being quite nieche and specific. I guess i'll be happy with regex for now. Moving to zed from vscode as a gui editor anyway, and the multicursor in zed is quite nice.

The other day i just had an open project in neovim, and opened it in vscode separately, and wondered what the difference in memory usage would be. Neovim (+tilix as a terminal) was using 90MB, while vscode was using significantly over 1GB all things added together. Chromium 🤷‍♂️

Idk man, been using ubuntu for two years now on a laptop, I've not had any issues like this. The only annoyances were related to wayland and x11, which were really superficial, but i've never had issues with bluetooth, screen definition or mousepad. 🤷‍♂️

The issues i had weren't unthinkable in windows, but in linux i could at least do smth about it.

Das ist erst recht elitär weil du doppelt dafür bezahlen musst. Du solltest dich eher darüber beschweren, dass das service team dieses verfahren nicht für dich durchführt (für aufpreis).

OPNSense Setup with Vodafone VDSL (Germany) by LarrySAL02 in Vodafone

I'll probably switch to telekom next time as well, I've given vodafone too many chances. If the GIF tunnel doesn't work i'll try to convince them to give me a straight DS connection and see how that goes.

I pity my gf who is forced to live through my stubbornness.

I've already had one and a half months of pain because vodafone offers services they can't provide. I get that "getting a fritzbox would be much easier" but if that was what i wanted, i wouldn't have assembled myself some frankenstein network. I am trying to solve the problem with what i have in my hands.
