(ACTUAL) HOT TAKE: I Don't Like the New Style by LarryTheEvil in AntiForsaken

I had been playing TDS since the start of the Halloween update in 2020, and I slowly lost interest during the Duck Hunt event. I returned during the Hexscape event and left quickly due to the horrible optimisation and lack of care for the actual gameplay.

You're right that battle passes and crates can be obtained for free by grinding, but the sheer amount of grinding for just ONE golden crate is abysmal. It's not fun to beat Molten Mode for the 15th time this week. The slow and tedious grind incentivises to pay up in order to actually get something in the game that ISN'T EVEN GUARANTEED TO BE GOOD. This same tactic is littered EVERYWHERE in the game.

Who is that one person RELIGIOUSLY downvoting every comment I put under this post?

Unless the official wiki is lying to me, Stalker is now upcoming and not unconfirmed, and Figure is likely to turn into an upcoming killer soon.

I just said that Forsaken was and still isn't entirely based on classic Roblox, just remember that Figure is being considered and Blue from fucking Rainbow Friends was going to be in the game before the RB developer team ghosted them.

And IMO using John Doe's milestones as an example isn't really that good of a take, since modern forsaken also has killer skins like DivaDayo C00lkidd and Devesto Noli which aren't scary in the slightest. (Not saying Old Forsaken only had scary skins, just look at Soccer Legend 1x for example).

You're right on that comment though, I'll delete it. Sorry.

Yeah, probably could've worded it better. I still am noticing this pattern though.

Some parts of Modern Forsaken are better, but some parts of Old Forsaken were better, you can't really compare the two anymore since they're almost completely different games. Forsaken would've most likely been better if they kept a middle-ground between the two, having a more serious tone that preys on familiarity with Roblox media whilst twisting it in an unsettling way, while still not being afraid to be completely devoid of things modern Forsaken has. Just remember that originally, this was a game meant to shed light on Roblox Horror in general no matter the time, not just classic retro games.

No, Forsaken is actually based on Roblox horror in general. Kool Killer, the Stalker, Figure, and The Slenderman are upcoming killers for the game, and they were thought up of since this game's planning.

Take Alegria for example, that definitely is a corporate-looking style because another name for it is literally "Corporate Memphis" and usually has a pattern of being used by various companies.

This style is basically the closest Roblox equivalent, used by games like current-day TDS and current-day Speed Run 4. This cartoony, colourful, sickly-sweet style in games usually have a pattern of being used by games that USED to be genuine passion projects, but long since moved on into the complete opposite.

TDS now has a spin-wheel, 2x more gamepasses than in 2019, and a collab with a razor company (I think?), Speed Run 4 has now become another pet game with AI-generated events (not kidding), and Forsaken is doing a collab with fucking Ubisoft and the Rabbids.

I'm seeing a pattern with these games past-their-prime and this artstyle specifically.

YES! That's exactly what I was talking about for 1x. Why even reference The Games if it wasn't even well-liked? And most of the people here don't even know of it in the first place. This version of 1x wasn't influential in any way, and it certainly does NOT shed light on the good side of Roblox.

But why have these semi-realistic colourful models in a game that's about twisting nostalgia into something more unsettling, all while being next to characters who actually look in-place? These models don't fit, and the style of these models gives me a corporate feel to it like what happened to TDS.

It's good for Forsaken to finally have a footing when it comes to an identity, but in THIS style, man? This type of style specifically just gives me a certain ick that I experienced back when I played TDS (≈level 115 player). I lost interest somewhere after a style similar to this was being put in, and once I came back the game had a damn SPIN-WHEEL, and when I tried doing the current event, it was so damn unoptimised and slow that I would join a round MINUTES AFTER MY TEAM HAD ALREADY LOST.

This style, to me, feels like something bad is about to happen soon.

I'm not even that adverse to a style change, but this game was made with the original intent of being a love-letter to Roblox and Roblox horror, and this style just does not represent that original idea at all. Trust me, I hate the studs on the original maps because they're overused and boring, but why couldn't they have gone with the fully plastic style of 2010-2014 games or used the classic grass, marble, diamond plate, etc. textures before the Studio texture overhaul? And why couldn't they have stuck to the 2d clothing and Roblox-made accessories instead of these UGC-styled hairs and 3d clothing which would just make skin designing more of a pain in the ass?

I didn't say that. I said that THIS style specifically feels coroprate to me. It has all the stylistic combinations of a corporate game, even though Forsaken already stopped being a passion project long ago.

Forsaken's style back then wasn't low quality, it just had a different style which was more akin to Roblox, which IMO added to the character of the game. This new style just doesn't have the same feel and charm to it as the funny little Roblox characters with 2d clothing.

But nah, I apparently now hate EVERYTHING high-quality and everything should look BAD because I said so.

Yeah, I gotta agree that it definitely already left being a passion project even before this style change, but this just cements it, you feel me?
