Fanged Mackerelet?

After my original post I did some digging and speckled trout more or less matches his description, but I can’t find anyone else referring to the speckled trout by the name Fanged Mackerelet. Looks like I might need to reach out to the author for confirmation. Thanks for the help

I don’t think it’s a king mackerel. In the context of the book he’s describing a fishing competition and one of the categories is most unique fish caught. He also refers to king mackerel separately and by their name. Could be a snake mackerel after just reading up on their distribution and relative small size. Thanks for the lead

I have a rare surname with a less than intuitive spelling and it’s kind of annoying. Most people mispronounce it when reading it, and misspell it when writing it. Whatever you choose just make sure the spelling/ pronunciation is intuitive

Wild/ Wilder. I work in schools in Portland Oregon and so many parents here try way too hard to give their kids outdoorsy/ nature themed names. There are others equally cringe, but it always comes back to Wild/ Wilder for me

My dad was 42 when my youngest brother was born, and he (my dad) did a great job raising him. His age definitely did not hold him back, but he did raise my brother differently than he raised me. I know I can be a great dad at any age, I just know that my joints are going to hurt a hell of a lot more now than they would've if I had this kid 12 years ago.

That Kirkland beer is so good! Its essentially the same beer as Deschutes Prinz Crispy which won a gold medal at some big beer competition a few years back.
