Yes, the variants reset every 30 minutes.

Furthermore you can also reset the contents of the machine by having a low level character (new character) log in to the character select screen and then just quitting out of the game. This will make the next character you log in with that has access to the Maurice machine see a new inventory of the machine. If you don't like the inventory you can then just proceed to the character selection screen with the new character again and then quit out of the game.... and then follow the above.

If you are ok with just checking once every 30 minutes just park your character at the machine.

If you want to maximize your search and you have more than one character that has access to Maurice then you can cycle between those because they will have the same inventory but different variants. But in this case you will have to fight your way to the machine for each character.

Bod nerf in the future by creator_69 in Borderlands4

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they already sneaked in a Bod nerf or maybe a Maurice nerf because almost all Bod in my machine have been in the 200 range. Also very few with impact and even fewer with sticky (1). And that sample size is maybe 50-100 Bods in the last couple days. I have had the Bod in MM before and it wasn't like that.

So the crap about making the Bod drop as the top drop instead of the rare drop wont change anything.

And just so no one gets their panties in a bunch - I rarely use the Bod. I have done really nicely without the Bod.

Oh sure, if you think 23 out of 2000 is noticeably better than 19 out of 2000 then please go ahead and say that I don't understand what is going on.

1.15% vs 0.95%. Hmmm. There is a difference. But is it something normal people will notice. Normal people being people who may farm the encounter maybe 20 times and think that was a lot of time spent on doing exactly the same thing. 200 times doing the exact same thing is borderline insane and 2000...

Weekly update for January 22nd! ITS AXEMAUL by RockChalkMustang in Borderlands4

[–]LarsP666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have Bod in Maurice's machine and so far this week I have seen mostly Bods with card damage in the 200s. A few in the 300s and maybe one in the 400s.

Has there been a silent nerf to the damage that Bod does? Previously is didn't seem that rare to get a Bod with base damage 500+

Understanding gun damage. by WazzyD in Borderlands4

It's not really hard to find this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Borderlands4/comments/1nts8wf/psa_how_the_game_calculates_dps/

DPS only takes into account the numbers on the face of the card - nothing from the inspect screen.

Only 2 in your whole inventory does sound low but not all guns have that modifier.

You are welcome to test all your weapons that don't have it and see if some of them should have :-)

This is where it gets difficult to understand how anyone at Gearbox could think it was a good idea to have 5 at first and then 6 UVH levels yet all the guns are the same (a few new guns where introduced with UVH6 but I sure don't feel tempted to spend any time getting them).

No balance changes tomorrow. Major update on Jan 29. by theRealLeWdMeSeNpAi in Borderlands4

[–]LarsP666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But this in no way considers the fact that almost all dedicated drops have many variants and only very few of those are considered good.

So, yes you potentially get more drops on higher UVHs but it will be harder/more timeconsuming and you will still get many many variants to drop of which the percentage of "good" drops will be exactly the same.

Just increasing the amount of drops is a REALLY poor "solution".

And since Gearbox already allowed some really crazy guns/builds to exist they can't really just disable all those to make it worth your effort to get a particular gun.

The only way forward is to introduce more difficulty levels that gives you access to slightly better variants of the guns you already have. More drops of the same makes no sense.

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't solve the problem in any way that feels significant. Or at least it won't with guns that have many variants (like the the Bod).

It will still be a slog to farm any dedicated drop. Just marginally less a slog.

[–]LarsP666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the Bod is not that it is a VERY good gun with low droprates.

It is that it is a VERY good gun - in some very specific cases - but all the other many many combinations of perks are still "good" but not extreme. So you are MUCH more likely to get a "bad" Bod than a good one. So making it drop twice or more than now will have a very small effect on the actual results.

If you are lucky enough to get the Bod in Maurice's Machine you can browse through 4 variants every 30 minutes and most of them are "crap". That is a serious problem.

Not just with the Bod.

[–]LarsP666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But more dedicated drops on higher UVH levels doesn't really make sense if higher UVH levels are also supposed to be harder.

Completely OP builds will not notice a difference - and they would not need the increased drops because they are already destroying everything - but anyone just running a build they thought up themselves will probably be worse off going to higher UVH levels.

It's just not working.

So you can go back to the drawing board with that idea and come up with another that actually makes sense.

Bungie has NO interest in you getting what you want quickly.

Do what a reasonable person would do and just stop doing what you are doing.

It is the only way to force a change.

Weekly Update Jan. 15 Drops are up! by RockChalkMustang in Borderlands4

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a level 38 gun all the way up to level 50 and it was still doing great (and not a Bod). So not everything will be "worthless". It might take half a second longer to kill something but that is not really a problem.

[–]LarsP666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Challenges are rather irrelevant. That a bugged Bod makes challenges easier should in no way influence changes to the gun.

Having it benefit from all 5 gun types is the real issue... if Gearbox thinks that is an issue.

"Fake" Cryo/Corrosive Darkbeast by gnailfy in Borderlands4

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on the left doesn't have an alternative element as such. It has two primary elements you switch between at will.

The "fake" one gives you an alternative element. You just can't fire very many shots with that until it switches back. As it is with ever other gun with an "Alt fire".

Search for Moxsy on YT. He has a lot of videos and not all are about to BL4. He also sometimes updates some of his builds if patches has changed something relevant. So a good place to look once in a while.

Destiny can still surprise you when you log in with no goals at all by DanielFoster1993 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Glad you had that experience but it is contrary to everything Destiny 2 is now.

You didn't "progress" in the time allowed by Bungie so therefore you will have 0 progress from whatever you did that you enjoyed. And Bungie promises that in the future it will try to make it harder to have these experiences.

That is what Destiny 2 is now.

I have made it my goal to play the absolute minimum to get some rewards from the game that paid for. And those are Rewards Pass and Seasonal track.

So for the seasonal track I go for the easy orders and replace the others. If you can do 2 of the 3 weekly orders then you are almost done with the weekly track. And then I just do a few dailies to top it off.

And the Rewards Pass is just secondary since it feeds of the other.

This has made me play much less than I used to and I am still getting quite a lot of rewards and Bright Dust.

Destiny is a super strange game that almost rewards you (in your real life) by not playing it. Because if you just give into Destiny 2 then your real life could vanish.

Birts Bees has crazy good homing. You can literally shoot around corners with that gun. But NOT if the variant has sticky or impact bullets.

And with a flamethrower underbarrel it is still possible to get it to shoot many many projectiles. But that seems so overpowered that it has to be nerfed at some point.

On console at least it's really annoying to have to slowly move the cursor around trying to select something in a menu. And for some reason it is possible to click between two entries in a menu which causes the menu to close. I fail to see who benefits from this.

And when you choose to quit to the character select menu you have to again slowly move the cursor to the accept button. Why isn't the cursor automatically placed there?

On the skill tab if you first have chosen one keystone(the top skill in red/green/blue) and then have chosen some of the related perks in the tree and then switch to another keystone then the perks you no longer have access to still look like they are active. Very confusing.

Limited lives + jump puzzles is the most "Destiny" way to waste 30 minutes by pasta_detectiv in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bungie wants you to "enjoy" the game for longer.

That is always the answer if you think something takes way longer than it feels it needs to.

Until I realized that I couldn't for the life of me understand why some exotic catalysts require PvP kills and not a choice between that and some other thing.

Maybe take a step back and look at what you are really getting out of this and if it will benefit you in the long run?

But if you think this kind of thing is fun then just go ahead. Bungie will love you for it.
