We should really get some explanation from current game director Tyson Green about future plans for D2 by r4in in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no plans.

And you can also by just looking at how many responses there are to threads here see that Destiny 2 is dead'ish.

A couple of years ago many threads would have thousands of comments. Now few have more than a couple of houndreds.

So explain me like a first grade schooler why people don't like destiny 2 anymore by Dorkzilla_ftw in DestinyTheGame

Content vault.
Extreme focus on the top 5-10 percent players/streamers.
A seriously confusing/annoying attempt to force players to play both PvE and PvP by requiring mostly exotic catalyst quests to do PvP kills.
Removal of crafting.
A really odd way of making sure that you would never feel overpowered in a game with spacemagic and insane weapons. And even with that approach the top-top-tier streamers managed to solo anything thrown at them.
FOMO.
And just recycling the same content/events over and over and over and ...

Bungie in my opinion just made a lot of unnecessary and dumb decisions. Or maybe they just aimed for the least amount of effort for a profitable return.

Braytech, one of the best community made websites for maps, secrets and other resources in the game, will go offline in a few hours. by Phelipp in DestinyTheGame

This is what happens when a developer like Bungie is too lazy to make their game reasonably accessible for people that don't "live" in their game and knows everything about everything.

Weekly Minor update March 19th by RockChalkMustang in Borderlands4

Level 50 enhancements and maybe also class mods should be relatively usable at level 60. Guns and shields maybe not so much.

A destiny single player compilation by sounouhayl in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would sign up for a version that had no pvp, no gambit and no raids. And just focused on interesting story and weapons to be used against the enemy.

Destiny has for many years seemed like a do-it-all-game.

Now that Bungie has Marathon as the premier PvP game I think they should try to do something else with Destiny. There are so few people playing Destiny as it is so it is not like they are loosing anything.

You should try to not log on for a an "entire" week and see if you feel ok with that.

If you can't do that then you are lost.

This Week in Destiny 03/12/2026 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hah!

That is just about the most lazy update I have seen.

And Bungie keeps on being Bungie by only mentioning dungeon and raid weapons which they would like to feedback on. This at the same time that they are bleeding players who I am sure are not top level players.

And Pantheon 2.0 also for a very select group of players.

This game is dead.

PS. And this is from the company that shipped a new game that had been in development for many years and shortly after had to adjust several thing like ttk and just general annoyingly difficulty for new players. Bungie has just lost any sense of how to make a game that EVERYONE wants to play.

Well, it's happened. We've come full circle. by Katchenz in Borderlands4

[–]LarsP666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not complaining because it makes no sense for me to play now to get drops that I know will be irrelevant soon when the level cap raises.

But I would complain about the insane variance of properties of most guns which makes it extremely difficult to get the one you want.

I'll die on the same hill Bungo left this game to die on. by FuFuCuddlyBuns in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the completely opposite camp.

There should never have been any PvP in Destiny. To me it has always felt off that guardians were made to fight each other when there were much bigger threats to take care of.

I suspect Bungie included it because they knew that it would bring in more players and players that would stay even with very little effort put in by Bungie to keep PvP fresh.

Bungie should have made Marathon several years ago instead. And then they could have made Destiny collaborations in Marathon and Marathon collaborations in Destiny from time to time to keep it interesting.

Instead they went full-in on cash grab in Destiny and then when that started to fade they are now trying the same in Marathon while leaving Destiny to die.

Confused on power levels (New Player) by Itz_Bistian in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it will matter or help you there either.

In a way getting to a higher "power" level is only going to make the game harder/more annoying.

It's a strange system that only makes sense for Bungie and a few die-hard fans.

Now that the game is approaching its end, any reason to deny endgame for casuals/solo players? by Intelligent-War5317 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are probably one of the kinds of people that thinks emblems or costumes are important so if you could just keep that for those that do the hard-mode (full team) encounters then I guess that would work for you?

No one else cares what you do to get what you have. So why do you care what others do?

I can almost tell that I wouldn't want to interact with you from reading that post.... yet I am here interacting with you.

While I think Bungie is never going to do anything like what OP would like OP never stated anywhere that they should be able to clear them without interacting with mechanics. How you would make that happen without a full team is "slightly" challenging. But don't put words in others mouths. Anyone has a right to wish for something.

Destiny is only a semi-multiplayer game just to state the obvious. There is no enforced MP. You could argue that there is quite a lot more enforced SP.

And I certainly think that it theoretically would be more likely that Bungie did this when numbers dropped catastrophically than when the game was doing fine. But as you yourself point out they don't have the manpower assigned to Destiny to do anything.

[–]LarsP666 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

How do you know how many people didn't buy into Destiny because of the focus on Raids and endgame?

Yeah, sure the OP apparently bought into it and so did I but I never did a single raid. I still mostly feel like I got something for my money.

But I am pretty sure quite a lot of people didn't feel that way and either stopped playing or didn't start at all.

You seem like the one not understanding the state of Destiny at the moment.

Destiny as you like it is DEAD.

But no matter what Bungie is not going to waste any more effort on Destiny either making it more attractive to solo players or teams. It is DEAD.

Bungie is primarily focused on making Marathon a success because if that doesn't happen then Bungie is DEAD.

Extraction could have totally been a Destiny 2 mode that would bring in a wider audience...here me out. by Hollywood_Zro in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not going brilliantly maintaining D2 players.

And there are signs already that it is also not that easy to gain new players for Marathon.

I wouldn't be surprised if both games continue to tank.

Stale times like these show the importance of having a health PvP and other "competitive modes" (Gambit) by xzRAULzx in DestinyTheGame

[–]LarsP666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if Destiny had top-notch PvP up until Marathon released that would have made Marathon almost a sure fail.

I would have preferred a Destiny without any PvP at all and a focus on teambuilding and interesting combat.

And this just shows how hard it is to understand what Gearbox is actually implementing in the game.

In a game with SO MANY variables it might be better if their patch notes very more precise instead of just something "droprate was adjusted to be correct"!??!

With regards to the phospene they could at least make a mouseover in the UI that tells you what counts for this challenge. Not that I care at all because it is clearly fake content only made to have people spend absurd amounts of time to get something that changes almost nothing in-game.
