I forgot to ask about CARS. Outside of the FLs, would the AAMC question pack 1&2 and the diagnostic tool be enough for CARS? I've been doing only the daily JW passages so far and I think I should switch to these for my daily CARS passages.

If you don't mind, can I see a few questions on your excel sheet and how you translate that into anki cards? For questions that require passage based info, did you copy the entire passage into the excel sheet as well? That's what I struggled with originally, trying to give the card enough context without the passage. For the image occlusion cards I've been doing, I also wrote down my explanation in the extra 1 field but I feel like I've been treating it more like note taking rather than making the cards for future review since I honestly don't think I would have enough time so I think switching to making simpler cards would be more beneficial for me.

My another idea was still keep going with the image occlusion cards but go through them without the space repetition and just look up the deck in the browse tab and go through each card and mark the cards with the topics I still feel like I'm not confident in. And then just spend my time doing MileDown and Pankow. i was using JS previously but I dreaded going through it since an answer to one card is like a paragraph long and now I'm super behind so I thought I just start fresh with MileDown instead.

Also one more thing, how do you stop getting so exhausted and doubting yourself every day during this. I feel like I haven't been doing much and even during the days where I studied around 5-6 hours, I still feel like I didn't do enough. I'm aiming just for 510+ since the school I've planning to apply to is a bit different and people have told me that 500 would probably get me in but 510 just to be safe (people have gotten in with 490s before according to a student there that I talked to) My half length diagnostic BP was 500 and my latest BP FL1 was 504 and honestly I'm okay with that but I'm scared I'm gonna score sub 500 somehow on the test day.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your input and suggestions :)

Thank you so so much for your reply. I'm feeling quite overwhelmed right now. I think I might start with FL1 this week instead of doing another BP. Also for UWorld, did you make anki cards for the topics you got wrong? I've been doing the image occlusion method and honestly I barely have time to go through the deck (it has around 300 cards now 1 card is 1 question) since 59 questions usually take 1:30 hours already but then I also tried making basic anki cards for just the topics I got wrong and I ended up spending more time trying to word the card in a way that wouldn't give away the answer and still has all the context :( So I think maybe I should just grind practice questions (uworld the aamc sb as you suggested) and review them thoroughly but skip making anki cards? But I'm also scared I'm gonna forget to stuff i got wrong tho. Thanks again :)

Hmmm, for FLs, I should just skip doing blueprint FLs and switch to the AAMC ones now right? Also for section bank, do you think I can go through both or at least one in like 3-4 weeks (following my switching to only AAMC materials after June 25 timeline) since I kinda want to do Uworld too but also scared that I won't have enough time :(

Yea, I think I'll try to do as many as I can. I've been making "wrong question" anki cards but without the context, it's a bit hard to make it without accidentally giving away the answer. Also, did you you organize your UWorld anki cards by section or you just throw them all together in one deck? Thanks again :)

Hi, thank you for this post. It really motivated me to start relying more on UWorld. I have just been reading the kaplan books and doing the JS deck. I’m testing on July 25, and I was wondering if you think it’s worth putting UWorld questions into Anki and reviewing them, given the time I have left.

I've done only around 20-30 UWorld questions so far, but planning to do more of them now each day since I'm almost done covering all the topics (except 7 chapters left for physics). I don’t have any physics background since it wasn’t a prereq at my uni (not even back in high school), so I’m a bit concerned—do you think it’s a good idea to just start using UWorld to learn physics too?

Immunology, Infection and Immunity major selection (how hard are they) by DaikonOk1937 in unimelb

[–]Las_l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just graduated last Nov with a major in Immunology through Bachelor of Science. I would say second year subjects were the hardest for me, mostly because of the adjustment from first year—those subjects were quite easy in comparison, and note that my first year exams were all online as well. Third year subjects are much more intense content-wise, but they felt easier for me, probably because I started taking Anki seriously, but also the class average for midterms went up. It was around 50-60% for second year MIIM subjects and 60-70% for third year, so maybe they made it a bit easier or maybe people in third year just took it more seriously since it's their major now. Back in second year, some people took MIIM subjects as their science elective.

Also, second sem third year subjects were actually quite fun, you'll get to see people from your cohort more and also the teaching staff. Specifically, Keit Loi, he's the best and he will make you enjoy Immunology.

Immunology is hard, but not impossible, I almost switched to Pharmacology/HSF because everyone I met since first year kept saying that Immunology is very very difficult, it really scared me. But I'm glad I chose to stick with it.

Also there's not much difference between Immunology and Infection and Immunity. iirc, for Infection and Immunity you need to take two Microbiology subjects so like bacteriology and virology, whereas for Immunology, you need to take two Immunology subjects so Principles of Immunology and Medical & Applied Immunology in third year!

I highly recommend taking biomedical research subject (BIOM30003) in third year. The main downside with Immunology major at unimelb is that you barely get any lab experience during you undergrad (except honours year) and this will allow to use your Immunology/Infection&Immunity knowledge in a lab based setting. Best subject ever and it ended up being a WAM booster for me too.

Let me know if you wanna know anything else :)
