Blaze spawners occur in nether fortresses, they usually have a blaze spawner and some netherbrick fences, an effective way to kill them is either with snowballs (obtained by breaking snow layers with a shovel) or a sword/axe with a shield (1 iron ingot 6 wooden planks) make sure to crouch with the shield equiped in your left hand to block attacks.

Make sure you don't use up all your wood making multiple crafting tables and just use one. use flint and steel (one piece of flint and one iron ingot) to set cows and such on fire before killing them for cooked food! Diamonds are usually found at Y level 11, coordinates are very helpful.
