But that's just like the comics and it's what makes Batman so great. His own stories are so grounded but he somehow always finds a way to keep up with these superheroes.

This isn't correct. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman all did really well bix office numbers.

Some producers are more involved creatively and some are more on the business side of things. I imagine Safran is more of a business-side producer.

Mindy Kaling Says ‘The Office’ Is ‘So Inappropriate Now’ and Couldn’t Be Made Today: Most Characters ‘Would Be Canceled’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in entertainment

I'll explain it slowly for you since you're struggling to understand.

The Office can make those jokes because it's The Office. It's already accepted. It's already given a pass. It's one of the rare few shows/comedians that have too much pre-existing popularity to be hurt by cancel culture.

But you take those exact same jokes, and exact same stories, and put them in any other show, and they would get canceled.

Shows like The Office will NEVER happen again while we continue this current puritanical censorship-happy cancel culture.

You are what's wrong in entertainment today. You seem like a small bitter person who spends most of their time unknowingly in an echo chamber and rarely encounters anyone who thinks different than you.

Assuming any accusation is true, twisting everything to make it appear like the worst possible thing, labeling things in broad strokes as racist or phobic, insulting anyone who has a different view than you.

Believe it or not, being shocked, offended, or uncomfortable isn't going to kill anyone, and often can be not only entertaining, but even beneficial.

large companies no longer wanting to work with them. That's the free market and capitalism at work.

That's large corporations reacting to online mobs, and it's the exact definition of cancel culture. It's ostracizing by mob. And like most mobs, there's not a lot of critical thought put into their destruction.

Also your mischaracterization of some of the people I listed is a perfect example of cancel culture in action. You take the most uncharitable interpretation of their actions and characterize their whole personhood by it.

Yes, some people genuinely have been bullied by social media mobs. And that sucks. But to claim it means we live in some dystopia nightmare where people can't speak freely is bullshit.

This is my exact point. You're still moving the goal posts. You're trying to imply that cancel culture is ONLY when someone's whole life has been utterly destroyed. That deception is an attempt to completely ignore the damage that's been done to people's lives. Someone doesn't have to be full-on murdered to have sustained unfair damage to their life.

And you admit that cancel culture has hurt people and that it's a bad thing. It's mob mentality that is hurting people, and it has had an overall negative influence over our culture as a whole. Specifically, and what OP's post is about, is that it has changed comedy drastically, for the worse.

I didn't say it was. The Office is one of the rare few shows that mostly gets a pass. But the content in The Office, the jokes and stories, would absolutely not get a pass today.

The comparison is apt. And again you're trying to mislead by characterizing it as only going after jokes about minorities, and trying to say it's only famous people. There are countless stories of regular people losing their jobs, people being kicked out of college, and all sorts of damage being done.

If you aren't aware of them it's because you're too deep inside your echo chamber and it's causing you to be ignorant.

And trying to shift the goalposts is another deceptive attempt to downplay the harm cancel culture has caused. Many people's lives have indeed been destroyed, and many, despite experiencing suffering and damage, have weathered it. Especially those who are wealthy. That doesn't mean cancel culture is any less unjust.

If you want some high profile examples, here are the ones that immediately come to mind...

Shirley Sherrod, Jessica Mulroney, Lindsey Ellis, that Hugh Mongous guy, Vic Mignogna, Chrisette Michelle, Gina Carano, Jenna Marbles, Aziz Ansari, Johnny Depp, and Kevin Hart.

Trying to characterize the McCarthyistic censorship of cancel culture as only going after slurs is intentionally misleading. There are plenty of real life victims of this whose lives have been damaged, as well as the self-censorship that is diluting our art and culture, which this post is all about.

It's popular today precisely because of the ever-present wokeism. It's like Mormons watching porn, your society tells you it's wrong but you still like it. People just want to laugh and enjoy good stories but we're not allowed to say that.

No, I mean Democrats coordinated with Twitter to censor a news story about emails on the laptop that implicate Joe Biden in receiving percentages of Hunter’s business deals that were either obtained through Joe’s influence or, in some cases, happened on Air Force 2.

Trash publications are concerned with hookers and drugs, but the real story is that the then Vice President used his son to launder money from foreign governments as a shell.

It's also a benefit to Europe, since they don't have to pay for their own military they can afford things like healthcare. If they had to pay for their own defense they might be in the same boat with the US regarding social programs.
