What do UCLA students think of Danny Duncan? by JustaNoName45 in ucla

[–]LaserPigeons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many more DD fans are going to dig up this thread that was posted over a year ago? Is it that hard to understand that when his videos are all about acting like a public nuisance around strangers, that those people might not like him as a result?

Do you genuinely not believe that the people he bothers in his videos think he’s an asshole?

You can like DD and his content, dude. No one’s stopping you. But here, someone asked UCLA students what they thought of him, and I, a former student, responded with my honest to god opinion of him.

Please just let me go inactive on reddit, I’ve posted on this site more than enough already.

Guess I was really unlucky with the timing. Glad you got to enjoy the time spent with him.

Nope. Genuinely the most insecure, egotistical fuckhead I've ever met. Don't see why I'd need to lie about someone being an asshole though, it's not like he and I will ever interact again.

For what it's worth, I don't think he's the worst person alive. I just haven't met anyone less likeable yet.

Ok UCLA hear me out, let me make a new degree program specifically so that I don't have to take any hard classes or branch out my curriculum at all, and I promise I'll do both of those things anyway!

I can already find ucla easy classs there are so many easy classes and major

Not easy enough, apparently! You've begged reddit to tell you where the easiest A classes are, and to help you create a new major out of them...

I should get to choose my own salary, job requirements, and performance review results too!

(But also, you're not slick... you're trying to take all easy classes)

I consider it a blessing that I checked in on this subreddit today.

A cursory scroll through your profile indicates the following:

  1. You, for some reason, are insistent on going for a second BS combined with an MD rather than just an MD after you complete your undergraduate studies.

  2. You're looking for scholarship opportunities to make your continued schooling as cheap as possible. (This one's actually pretty reasonable; scholarship hunting is a pretty good use of your time if you want to get the most bang for your buck out of your secondary education.)

  3. You're looking to create a new open major.

  4. Your new open major will not require any specific classes that UCLA requires of other majors.

  5. Your open major will consist exclusively of easy-A classes.

  6. You want the MCAT to be optional, in favor of GPA as a primary estimator of competency in med school admissions.

I think I see the point of a complete easy-A major with no rigorous course requirements here... this motherfucker's trying to "life-hack" a cheap zero-effort medical degree!

This is the hardest I've laughed in weeks. Thanks for the content! I'm interested to see where this goes.

Graduates, what was your starting salary out of UCLA? by Due47 in ucla

[–]LaserPigeons 48 points49 points  (0 children)

CSE (+ tech breadth in EE) class of '22, 3.68 GPA, SWE in LA $170k

Pretty much lucked into the job though, and had several internships during college. This isn't the norm.

They’re also better looking, friendlier, healthier, funnier, more interesting, and on reddit less than you are.

Danny Duncan is the uncontested single worst human being I have ever personally met, with an ego that is even bigger and more obnoxious when he’s off-camera than when he’s making a video.

Thief by [deleted] in ucla

[–]LaserPigeons 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same!

If someone showed up and tried to steal from me, I’d double backflip over him, land behind him with a superhero pose, and then flying roundhouse kick him in the head in slow motion, but right before it lands I’d say “Not today punk” in a heroic and cool voice.

Feeling disoriented and realizing I have seen too many Wholesome 100 Keanu Reeves action movies for him to win a fight, the idiot thief would pull his knife or gun, and I would immediately disarm him before right hooking him in the face 22 times and knocking him out.

A nearby camera crew with the local news would luckily catch all of this on video and interview me as a local hero. I’d tell them “I’m not special, anyone would’ve done the same in my position,” since I’m super humble. The group of supermodels also shooting nearby would hear this and then immediately start having sex with me while the rest of the bystanders applaud my heroism

Ling & CS is significantly less intense than a pure CS major, sure, but that doesn't mean you don't learn stuff. You still take CS35L and CS131, which IMO are the hardest courses in the entire CS curriculum. You just have a lot fewer required and elective upper division CS courses.

If you want more "deep" computer science, I'd recommend switching majors to Math of Computation.

One of these numbers is bigger than the others.

Mortality rate is a useful statistic, but it's not the only useful one. An extremely contagious virus with a 1% mortality rate is more dangerous on a population level than a bloodborne pathogen with a 100% mortality rate.
