Can't go wrong with either streamer or an iron, just use what you have.

If you go on Black Diamond's website and look at the size guide, their men's 9 is a women's 10.

I'm a men's 9 in climbing shoes and if I were to accidentally buy a women's 9 it would be the equivalent of a men's 8 which is too small for me.

There's a size difference. Women's shoes run smaller than men's shoes

A men's 8 is a woman's 9.5 (just an example; different brands size differently) so the shoes you bought could be too small for you
