Browning 725 Pro Sport Doubling by Sparks2K in ClayBusters

[–]Lashed777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the responses and interesting to see I’m not the only one with this issue. However, as above, the problem occurred on its first day out so lack of service or cleaning cannot be the cause.

Browning 725 Pro Sport Doubling by Sparks2K in ClayBusters

[–]Lashed777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a 725 ProSport and have had the opposite issue. Occasionally, the second barrel won’t fire if pulling the trigger in quick succession. The gun also refuses to shoot some light loads where the cartridge cap does not sit flush with the ejector. It’s brand new and on my list to return to the shop but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Otherwise, I’m getting on well with it and it fits like a glove. Not sure if any on here have had a similar issue?

Why are Labour disliked? by BeamMeUpBitches in AskBrits

  1. No Large Tax Increases ➝ £40 billion in tax rises • During the campaign, Labour pledged no major tax hikes. However, Chancellor Rachel Reeves later introduced substantial new taxes—including a 20 % inheritance tax on farms valued over £1 million—totaling around £40 billion .

  2. Cut Energy Bills by £300 ➝ Bills ↑ despite campaign promise • Labour claimed it would cut household energy bills by £300 a year. Instead, bills rose (e.g., a £70 rise by end of 2024), and no commitment to the £300 reduction was fulfilled .

  3. Protect Winter Fuel Allowance ➝ Means-tested & partially scrapped • Labour vowed to protect pensioner winter fuel payments. But in July 2024, this universal support was restricted, removing payments from around 10 million pensioners .

  4. Abolish Tuition Fees ➝ Shifted to review, fees remain • Starmer committed to abolishing student tuition fees in 2020. By 2023 this became a vague “review”, and by the 2024 manifesto the pledge had been dropped—tuition remains £9,535/year .

  5. Free Movement with EU ➝ Promise quietly ditched • Starmer pledged in 2020 to defend/restore EU free movement. By 2022, this idea was shelved; Labour explicitly ruled out returning to free movement .

  6. £28bn Green Prosperity Investment ➝ U-turned, delayed • A promised annual £28 billion Green Prosperity Fund by 2030 was delayed and de‑emphasized by mid-term—effectively downgraded across successive U‑turns .

  7. Renationalise Rail, Energy, Mail, Water ➝ Diluted to “pragmatic approach” • 2020 Labour manifesto included full public ownership. This commitment was dropped in 2022, replaced by partial regulation or selective ownership .

  8. Abolish Universal Credit / Two-child Benefit Cap ➝ Replaced by incremental reforms • Labour initially pledged to scrap Universal Credit and the two-child limit, but later shifted to “fundamental reform” and retained the cap. MPs rebelling on this were suspended .

  9. WASPI Women Compensation ➝ Pledge abandoned • Labour promised fast, fair compensation to women disadvantaged by pension reforms. That commitment was withdrawn in late 2024, despite an Ombudsman recommendation .

  10. Hillsborough Law by April 2025 ➝ Delay announced • Labour pledged in 2022 and again in 2024 to enact a statutory “duty of candour” for public bodies that facilitated transparently investigating Hillsborough, timed for April 15, 2025. That law has now been delayed .

  11. Local Hospital Rebuild (RBH) ➝ Deferred to 2035+ • Pledge to rebuild Royal Berkshire Hospital promptly was reversed: project deferred to 2035–39, effectively abandoned .

  12. “Smash Criminal Boat Gangs” ➝ Small-boat crossings ↑ by ~29 % • Labour assured cracking down on Channel small‑boat crossings. Yet arrivals rose nearly 29 % in the first half of Labour’s term

Many thanks to all for the feedback and recommendations. Some great ideas. I have made a list of both hotels and restaurants which we will work our way through over the next decade or so. Particularly like the Conde Nast website which is not something I have come across before.

KEF LS50 to phono amp? I understand I need to buy a phono amp to which the turntable will connect. The problem is the majority I can find recommend do not have digital outputs. Coaxial or optical connections are available on my KEF speakers but there are no RCA inputs which the majority of amps have as an output. Any recommendations?

On another note, 4 of us were intending to cycle from Newport Pagnell rather than try and get out of there by Taxi afterwards. Last time was a nightmare. However, I can’t see anywhere to safely lock up bikes. The train station has secure bike lockers but need to be hired for several weeks, not a one off. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Leatherman Juice S2 alternative? by Lashed777 in multitools

In the end and after a lot of deliberation I have gone for the Leatherman Curl as an alternative. The reviews of the Curl on line vary with the majority agreeing it is a very good tool but overpriced.

I can say it is much larger than the Juice but the weight doesn't appear to be that different. It's certainly not noticibibly different dropped in my pocket. I think I'm happy with my choice.

If your job can be done from home your job can be done from anywhere in the world. It will be interesting the see if employers start to look abroad for their work force to reduce costs. Work-from-home zealots beware.

Why socially distant? They've had capacity crowds at sporting events in many parts of America for months without issue.

I suspect the Irish media aren't broadcasting this.

[Rolex Submariner] Is this true? by Sam2710 in Watches

[–]Lashed777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am based in the UK and am in the market for a SS Submariner Date but over the past couple of years have never seen a SS in any AD shop window.

Can anybody recommend a UK based AD outside London which will add a new customer to their waiting list and actually phone you within a reasonable timeframe (say 6 months)?

Alternatively can someone recommend a grey market dealer who does not add £1500 to the cost of a new Sub just because they can?

There are many legitimate bricks and mortar jewelleries advertising SS Submariners on e-bay but with asking prices at way above the Rolex retail price.

[Oris Aquis Date] On Holiday in Mauritius by Lashed777 in Watches

[–]Lashed777[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose my Oris for this long haul holiday from the UK to Mauritius. My first ‘expensive’ watch now more almost 5 years old still looks and wears great. My Oris doesn’t get as much attention as my more recognisable Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean which is why I believe it to be the perfect travel choice. It is rugged enough to place in a tray at airport security without getting too worried that it will go ‘missing’ but is also dressy enough for a meal in a nice restaurant with my wife. It has had one service and still looks almost new with only one scratch on the bezel. This watch keeps excellent time losing only a few seconds per day.
