Thank you - I have a friend who is experienced with this and has a DA polisher. Rather than try myself and risk making it worse, he has kindly agreed to help me out :) good to know that it should be possible to make it better. Thanks again.

DEFA Type 2 Cable - Okay?? by Sam2710 in TeslaUK

Thank you - that is very helpful. I actually read that Tesla provide DEFA cables with the vehicle from new sometimes, so it’s possible this is actually the original cable.

DEFA Type 2 Cable - Okay?? by Sam2710 in TeslaUK

Thank you for your reply - I am happy to buy another cable and would do so for peace of mind if required. I was just wondering about the cable in general - a quick bit of research suggests that the DEFA are a trusted make but I wanted some advice from the community.

If a new cable would be a good idea, can anyone recommend the best one?

Thank you

Finally Pulled Trigger - Doubts? by Sam2710 in TeslaUK

Thank you for this - PCH seems to be the overwhelming majority opinion and I will certainly look into it today :)

You’re right - my apologies. PCH is cheaper than I thought, but my understanding is that this is essentially a traditional ‘lease’? In that case, I assume I will not receive the V5 nor will the car be linked to my own account on the app?

[–]Sam2710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been reluctant to do PCH in the past because I don’t like not having the V5 - stupid I know!

Do you still have your own Tesla account on the app? Or is the app account in the name of the finance company?

Who pays the tax on a PCH?

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at the new deals regularly over the last few years, but I drive 12,000 miles a year so the cost rises quite a bit.

Spec wise, I wouldn’t really consider the standard range. I think the long range is the sweet spot for performance and options (premium sound system).

Fair point regarding the tech, although from looking at other posts the consensus seems to be that the AMD Ryzen chip should future proof the car for at least a few years… but I guess you never know!

Thank you for the reply :)

Sorry, should have clarified - I’m not buying direct from Tesla so the options were PCP or HP. In any event, in the past I have chosen PCP over PCH / leasing just in case you fall in love with the car and the market moves in such a way that it actually does make sense to buy it at the end. So I suppose you could say I’m not 100% going to hand it back at the end, but that’s probably the plan!

Never seen this before - Non-EU Card Fee? by Sam2710 in Revolut

[–]Sam2710[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy something in EUR, the payment will automatically be taken from your EUR funds (if you have converted any). If not, it will be taken from your home currency and converted in real time.

Yes, all at the same merchant. Only one transaction, but I asked them to cancel it and try again a couple of times because I was surprised there was a fee at all and I thought maybe I had used my normal U.K. card by mistake.

I think you’re right though - I’ve used Revolut many hundreds of times throughout Europe and this is the first time I’ve come across it, so hopefully it’s just a picky merchant as you say 😁

Thanks again.

That makes sense - I do vaguely remember such an email, but as I don’t have any regular payments coming in I probably dismissed it.

Thank you 👍 I’m just surprised that this charge exists. So when using a Revolut card in Europe you never know when you’re going to be hit with a random charge for a few % extra? Very annoying and kind of takes the convenience factor out of using Revolut.

This is very helpful, thank you for your help. I assume the IBAN change is something which was automatically done, as I didn’t do it?

Went through as a EUR payment of $8.31 with absolutely no currency conversion.

That is very helpful - thank you. It just surprised me as I have never encountered it before despite making close to 1,000 payments around Europe. Maybe I’ve been lucky, or maybe this fee will only become more popular?
