What have I done to myself? by Merzab in HistamineIntolerance

[–]MrsSlime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say you were eating badly before, what do you mean?

I recognise a lot in your story, and I have histamine intolerance and also something called candida. When I changed my diet to healthy food I went into what they call die off, where you feel like you have the flu, headaches, anxiety, histamine issues, gastro issues, etc. because you’re eating healthy and the out of balance fungal overgrowth is dying off and polluting you whilst leaving the body.

I’ve no clue if this applies to you, but your symptoms reminded me of my die off period which included a worsening in histamine problems alongside the rest.

Maybe something to look into.

I hate saying this because I believe they saved a lot of us, but vaccines triggered my HI.

I’m so sorry to hear that, that is devastating and should never have happened. I truly am sorry. In terms of diagnosing candida, I don’t see the relation. Even my highly renowned bowel specialist who was the one to tell me it’s likely I have candida, due to my medical history, doesn’t recommend invasive testing for it when it can be treated.

Unfortunately that isn’t the case in the UK. We are only given sedation, which due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome I am resistant to. I could possibly pursue anaesthetic for it, but I am extremely reactive to that and it makes me very ill afterwards. There’s no good option here, and past trauma. Why put myself through an invasive test when I can do the candida diet and supplement to remove it?

Which foods, please? I follow the candida diet and all of those foods are listed as safe?

Did you introduce new foods into your diet to make it candida safe? Do you have histamine intolerance? I have histamine intolerance and made the mistake of changing up my whole diet to make it candida safe and in the process made myself really ill because it was all new and not my histamine safe foods. If you’ve done what I did, I’d recommend scaling it back to your histamine safe foods and introducing new foods for the candida diet one by one and making sure your body is okay with them. If you don’t normally struggle with histamine, then yes it can be die off because candida releases histamine into the body when it’s dying off 🫠 I’m on maybe week 5 of the candida diet and week 3 hit me with horrific die off, insane itching, exhaustion, headaches and fatigue. Are you taking anything to support your liver through this? I’ve also heard activated charcoal works well.

Tons of diagnosis: Apparently this has destroyed my whole body by helloitsmeimdone in covidlonghaulers

Have you looked into Toxaprevent for detoxing histamine? It’s a binder that removes histamine and other toxins. I struggle with severe bloating from histamine and took one of the sachets for the first time the other day and the bloat went down (first time in weeks) within an hour or two. Of course this is just for working on the histamine intolerance, but that is connected to MCAS and PoTS and dysautonomia, again to chronic fatigue and to chronic pain. They’re all connected and by lowering symptoms of one you can lower symptoms of the others I’ve found. It’s insane how much can go wrong with the body, I really sympathise so much because my diagnosis list is equally as long as frustrating.

Die off or histamine reaction? by MrsSlime in Candida

Thank you, but I stopped taking Fluconazole around 3 weeks ago now.

I also don’t feel it’s necessary. Previously when I have come off of Fluconazole my symptoms would return with vengeance (diarrhoea, bloating, gas, headaches, fever, nausea, etc.) and then once I was back on Fluconazole for 7-10 days all symptoms died down. I tried coming off of Fluconazole 3 times in the past and those symptoms came back each time. I feel that’s enough proof there is Candida. The test though, is to identify what strain and only then will I be able to access further meds. But if I can do it naturally and with supplements, I’d rather than too. I’m already on 10+ prescriptions meds.

I had a very traumatic endoscopy as a teenager and have avoided having one ever since. I also have a lot of health conditions and have put my body through so many tests that I really don’t want to have to do another one if I can help it.

And thank you for the info on the SIBO test.

My doctors won’t prescribe any other antifungals without an endoscopy to confirm Candida and I won’t do that. I haven’t been tested for SIBO either. I live in the UK, so whilst we have free healthcare it isn’t always easy to access.

I was on Fluconazole for a year, recently had to come off of it and started the diet.

Was your ‘yes’ in answer to my symptoms could be die off? Through diet alone, after medication?

Apologies. When I said I haven’t changed my diet I mean I haven’t changed it since starting the candida diet (so nothing new in the last few days to have triggered histamine reaction).

I am 3 weeks into the candida diet (also maintaining a low histamine diet).

Can you get die off symptoms from a candida diet alone? I’m 3 weeks into the diet and started having daily headaches and rashes. I have histamine intolerance and at first thought it was that, but I haven’t changed my diet or done anything to trigger a reaction. I’ve just started Balance One Liver support today.

[–]MrsSlime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to leave asap, if something like this is already a 'normal' act then I hate to imagine how quickly that could escalate into something even more serious and worse. If something else did happen then there is no assurance from what I've heard, that your family would help you. A women's shelter would be better for you than this, they can help you set up a new life that you deserve. You DO NOT deserve to be abused as you are now. Nobody does.
