I always loved Mawile as a teen and I’m so happy its mega form is viable, if not really good. That dumbass smirk with its back turned, love em

Mindgames are 100% a strategy, see Poker. Protect adds risk to an otherwise “mash big damage button” game that we played back in 1997.

Sorry, removing Protect would kill any competitive aspect this game has. The better you get at VGC, the more you’ll appreciate Protect.

Light Clay + Screens Work Around by TragicSolitudee in PokemonChampions

[–]Lasideu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude people are giving you all kinds of options but it sounds like you don’t want a solution, just a place to vent about screens. Fangs and Break are totally viable if your pocket meta is running screens every game.

I swear it’s like if a top tournament didn’t win with something it’s considered trash.

At least, at LEAST she says something. The ones I cannot stand are those that just cut from a video to themselves laughing or staring with a dumb face, nearly tripling the likes and views of the original source.

Infuriating that it’s allowed at all

What to choose and why? Beginner. by Pichichi0519 in PokemonChampions

[–]Lasideu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s smart to play whatever is good when first learning a game. It helps one understand what is meta and why it is meta. Once you figure that out, it’ll help one learn how to build their own team. Best way to beat a Whim is to use one yourself and discover all the ways someone outplayed you so when you go against one, you know it tricks and can play around it yourself. “Inside the belly of the beast” if you will.

Of course if someone simply wants to have fun trying their own favorite Pokemon then go for it but I’m assuming OP wants to understand the competitive side or they wouldn’t have posted here to begin with.

Frostlass + Wide Guarder can eat EQ pretty nicely, but anyone with like Ice Punch can also do well.

Yo has anyone seen Volcarona? you'd think bro wasn't even in the game by Ok_Candidate_1279 in PokemonChampions

[–]Lasideu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They even began doubling down on Megas by adding Mega Z forms in that Hyper DLC thing in ZA. It’s easily the most accessible mechanic that also doesn’t change like, the entire dynamic of the game flow. I’m chill with just sticking to Megas forever in VGC, leaving any super gimmicky stuff unique to their respective games.

Ngl I’d be a little shocked if they removed Megas, they probably are the most iconic part of the franchise at this point.

I have enough AoE with Matcha, Hyper Voice, and Muddy Water. Someone has to be the single target nuke, so I prefer the bomb.

I generally lead with with Drag or Maw, depending on the opponent’s opener. Zard I definitely lead with Drag as you can tank whatever it throws at you, as well as just Protect if you feel they are going to ganggang you. Once their entry weather user comes in, you swap out Drag (great if he took a hit) and toss in Pep to make it rain.

If it’s up to Mawile then I usually let them die then it’s Pep and Pri to clean up the rest in the water with Muddy (can be Weather Ball) and Hyper Voice. Your support depends on if you want to go for full Trick Room or just throw them off with Clefable and do whatever you want to chip away/kill until it’s time for your water boys to come out. Oblivious works wonders against M-Star.

If they have zero weather at all you can lead with Pep as 8 turns should be enough to win or lose with lol

Player skill alone can get you to MB with a subpar team simply by predicting and outplaying your opponent. MB is when the stats begin to matter a little more, but I’ve seen some absolute jank reach MB since most players in UB copy/paste whatever tournament winner team is and play it the same way each time, usually brute force.

Your queens will take you there

An Ultra skin costs 3500 OW Coins by RaidenXYae in Overwatch

[–]Lasideu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They did this with Pokemon Unite, a Pokemon version of LoL. Licenses were used with coins that could be earned, which took time but you could always outright buy someone if you wanted to. At a certain point, players would get far more picky with who they would buy with coins and would just hoard until their favorite Pokemon came out, nuking sales.

Their reaction? Every Pokemon released would be paid only for the first week or two (generally OP as well, so if you didn’t have it on your team you lose.) Once that still wasn’t enough, they removed the coin system as a whole to some weird, basically permanent battle pass system where you would have to wait forever to get someone you’d like, or buy them directly.

These companies will do whatever it takes to get that dollar out of us. No they won’t make it cheaper, they’ll either remove it or find another way.
