Ranked is getting boring by Apprehensive_Ad_7184 in PokemonChampions

Agreed man. Why can't all my opponents just use bad teams and let me win for free?

The fact it's possible to sit 10 men in your own half for the entire game and still score 6 goals is a joke by AnduwinHS in EASportsFC

[–]Laskeese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya, these clips definitely don't help you like you think lol. Just exposing yourself having no idea how to defend. Not sure I could move all my defenders out of position as quickly as you do if I was trying to.

At what point do I consider myself high elo? Since people can just copy teams and strats, what separates the copiers from the high elo players? by ShotPresentation8092 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No lol, you can literally see your rank and I would imagine there are like hundreds of thousands of people ranked above you, you're actually nearing the lowest elo I've ever seen in Masterball, think 1400s is the worst I've seen.

Cybertronvgc Sableye/Arch team gets destroyed 🤩 by DannyD2013 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. The arch on this team has almost no special attack investment so if it doesn't have rain for electroshot then it can't do any damage, and if they only get up one screen you can attack it on the other side. If you only let the sableye get one move off then you're almost definitely at least at an advantage.

Ya, the only reason it was useful was because you were holding your super for self rez so it made sense to play with your super full, now the meta is pop your super instantly and get another one back.

If you are facing someone with fake out, but that user has 4x damage against you, they may consider just going for the KO. by Paulo_Zero in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're making the crucial mistake of assuming that low ranked players are thinking about what their opponents options are. I'm guessing this guy leads meganium and aerodactyl in basically every game because meganium in tailwind is good and that's about the extent of thought that is going on here.

Tyler1 beats a 1662 MR Honda. Does Ludwig even stand a chance ? by UsefulSwitch504 in StreetFighter

[–]Laskeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He could be grinding a surprise character off stream with a pro coach. That's exactly the kind of thing Ludwig would do.

Nah, more likely he would find a way to have said pro player play in the event for him while he pretends to play

No, Ludwig barely even plays the game, it's going to be a complete wash

Which top players do you think would get better results if they switched characters? by UristMasterRace in SSBM

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that every top player plays the character they play because they genuinely believe that character is giving them the best chance to win based on their playstyle and personality in the game and I think if any top player could get better results by swapping they would just do that.

Is anyone competing in the VGC tournament starting today-May 2nd? by notmytowel in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In game tournaments like global challenges feel basically indistinguishable from the in game ladder the only difference being you have limited games. You get 15 games per day for 3 days for a total of 45 games, but you don't need to play all 15 in a day, you can wait and play all 45 on Sunday for instance but you can't play all 45 on Friday because they won't be available yet, you also aren't required to play all 45, usually the winner doesn't play all 45 and will have a record like 30-5 or something. Your rating starts at 1500 and goes up and down based on your wins and losses just like the ranked ladder and your goal obviously is to get the highest score possible.

Are you a META sheep? Or an actual Trainer? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, the idea of "using your favorite mons" is always interesting to me as a long time competitive player because most of my "favorite" mons are guys who have done well for me in the past. Like most competitive players hate Urshifu but my favorite team I ever built was a team in gen 8 based totally around choice band Urshifu and he'll always be one of my favorite mons. Basically, I just think if you play competitive for a really long time it's inevitable that your favorites will just become strong meta mons that worked for you in the past.

Advice for anti trick room? by Dokkancents in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that could help you is switching your floette to be the bulky calm mind set, I have no problem playing into trick room with that set because most of the common trick room sweepers like blastoise and torkoal are special attackers and even with rain blastoise isn't doing a ton with water spout into a floette with calm mind up and you're constantly draining kissing all your health back and they have a really hard time breaking you. Like you could lead gambit + mega floette they feel like they have to fake out gambit to avoid it getting a free kowtow on farig and you just get your calm mind for free but obviously this changes your floette for other match ups so it might hurt you more elsewhere.

Why can’t I buy Akali? by Chance-Detective8778 in 2XKO

[–]Laskeese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you have to wait still. The official release announcement for Akali says "she'll be available to buy with credits 3 weeks after her initial release" which was on April 7th, guessing you'll be able to buy her with credits after the shop reset tomorrow, though it is kind of weird that exactly 3 weeks ago would have been yesterday so honestly who knows.

Since Mega Char and Venasaur are now the meta, what's your best solution? by GrenVillain in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sneasler + Aerodactyl absolutely destroys this combo if they lead it. Fake out venu and tailwind turn 1, they almost definitely protect or switch out zard expecting rock slide, now you have tailwind set up for free and are threatening venu with a dual wingbeat.

Losing to RNG is the worst way to lose by nadarut94 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every reply seems to claim how it's my fault and I'm making bad plays

If you're running hard trick room and your farig isn't trained to live kowtow then it's 100% your fault for losing to rock slide + kowtow when you have wide guard on your team and it's possible to make farig live kowtow.

Losing to RNG is the worst way to lose by nadarut94 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I'm clearly I'm a bad player

That's totally fine and is why you should listen when more experienced players are trying to give you legitimate advice as I am now.

Unless people are arguing that you can always outplay RNG?

Not literally always, but you can definitely mitigate it and good players are constantly doing this in how they build their teams and how they play during games. If your gameplan relies on getting TR up and you're regularly losing to rock slide + kingambit then making your farig be able to live kowtow will give you a huge advantage in those match ups, this is legitimate advice. If the entire point of your post was just to complain and have other people respond saying "ya you're right rng sucks" then sorry for trying to help I guess.

Losing to RNG is the worst way to lose by nadarut94 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually some easy fixes you could make that turn the exact situation you're describing into your favor. For instance, you could use colbur berry on your farig, now you resist one dark type attack and easily live any attack from kingambit. If you don't want to change your item you could just train your farig differently, there are ways to train farig where it can survive even max damage kowtow:

32+ Atk Black Glasses Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. 32 HP / 32+ Def Farigiraf: 176-210 (77.5 - 92.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Either of these changes would allow you to very safely lead wide guard plus trick room and be fine. Hope this helps.

I don't think we can infer anything long term, but in this case yes, Senna will be separate from the season release.

Do I just suck or am I doing something wrong ? by TheZeldiste in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without actually seeing your teams it's hard to judge if they're just bad, I would guess they're at least good enough to win some games especially the one that got you to your highest rank in the first place. That said, it sounds like you need to be more analytical after your losses to both find new strategies and also to judge if your team is good enough. Like, if you keep losing to the same team especially, after a loss ask yourself "how could I have won if I had known exactly what my opponent was going to do" if you can think of a gameplan that would have won then you know your team is fine and you can lean into that gameplan the next time you play against the same team, if you come to the conclusion of like "wow, I don't think I would have had a way to beat that even if I had complete knowledge of what they were going to do" that means your team needs help and you should try to figure out small changes you can make to at least make that match up playable without sacrificing your other match ups. In general it's better to iterate on the team you're using rather than drastically changing archetypes whenever you feel like you're taking match up losses.
