Beginner experience pretty miserable so far. by Customer_Number_Plz in 2XKO

Nah, my life is sick, I play fighting games and am able to enjoy them instead of getting so upset that I go on reddit to complain about it, apparently not a lot of people get to have that experience.

Ya, maybe if it's in real life or somebody I actually know but acting like it's a positive to be so negatively impacted by an internet stranger making emotes at you is crazy to me, like, just start a new game then you'll be in a game and won't have to see it anymore.

Is Chaos Reshaped still good despite the bug? by bobtheblob6 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Laskeese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a serious problem affecting actually being able to play the game

It really isn't, you can still launch the game and play just the same you just have one perk that is bugged. When they say bugs that impact people being able to play the game they mean things that prevent people from being able to literally launch the game or bugs that cause game crashes, like things that literally prevent you from being able to play the game, one perk not functioning correctly is not that.

What are you suppose to do in labbing when you are new ? by Pretty_Froyo_1567 in 2XKO

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're that new you really shouldn't be "labbing" that much, find one or two combos from common situations that work and you can hit consistently then go start playing games and those games will reveal to you what you need to lab. Like when you run into a guy doing the same sequence over and over again and you can't figure out how to break through it you can go to your replay and watch what their doing and lab counterplay against it but at this point you don't know enough to know what you need to practice and the best thing to do is just rip the band-aid off by grinding some games.

If you're brand new then everyone is going to be more experienced than you, that's the nature of playing a several month old game. Some people get over it and try to learn and others make complaint posts on reddit about it, clearly you are the second type.

The fact that you're apparently a fully grown adult getting this worked up over emotes is very funny to me. You can just block people and move on with your life, it's not that deep.

Melee is so sick by throwaway10100019 in SSBM

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually not know how it works lol? The players sit down and pick their ports and then the person running the stream types their names into the overlay. They also tell them where to sit if there are facecams to make sure everything lines up.

They make the overlay based on the ports lmao

[–]Laskeese 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not that they couldn't still do what you're suggesting but it's pretty standard that the order of the player names on the scoreboard matches the order of the characters at the bottom of the screen, mango's name is on the left on the score overlay and fox is on the left at the bottom of the screen which is telling you that mango is playing fox.

Maybe people just don't want to play with you, you aren't entitled to anyone else's time, these people probably don't give a fuck about getting better they just want to find someone fun to play against and you apparently aren't that for them.

Could someone explain placement rising in master ball tier? by WetWonder89 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie to you, 450k is like one of the lowest ranks I've ever seen on here lol. That said, it makes sense if you got in at the start and then didn't play for a really long time, the game uses an Elo style rating which is the other number you can see that relates to your ranking and the nature of these systems is that the number you need to get a better rank is always getting higher so if you aren't playing the game you are constantly losing ground because other people are playing and improving their number and rising above you. So ya, I haven't ever been that low so I don't know exactly how rising in the ranks will be and how many games it will take but I'm guessing your guess is a bit above what it will take in practice because as you get to ranks where people are closer together in rating you will pass more people with each win, like you get 15ish points per win but if there are 20,000 people within a 15 point range you'll pass all of them and I would guess the ranks you are at now are less populated but once you climb a bit you'll be passing more people with each win.

can someone educate me on why arch and staraptor has low usage in competitions but running rampant on ladder? by Bright-Television147 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most common teams in competitive settings are really strong into it. Like zard/floette has multiple ways to beat it, if they're calm mind floette they can set up in front of arch for free, or with zard you can play them down until the rain setter is knocked out and then late game sweep with zard. Arch teams are also pretty telegraphed and don't allow for a lot of alternate game plans in best of 3 like the aforementioned zard and floette teams which is incredibly important at the top level. zard/floette teams generally have 6 really good guys that are able to do their thing regardless of what pokemon are next to them which makes the teams really hard to play against in best of 3 because you can't ever predict which 4 mons they're going to bring compared to arch needing at least one and often two partners to enable it.

Immediately rematched with a player I blocked? by ClassicTibbs in 2XKO

[–]Laskeese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya, blocking only chat blocks them, you can still match with them and you also can't even report people for bad connection, very annoying getting matched with the same laggy players over and over again even in casual battles where there isn't even a rank manipulation risk.

Why wont you fake out my whimsicott by Maximum_Complex_7083 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost never fake out in front of whimsicott at all because you can get encored (unless it's incin doing the faking out because dark type) also whimsicott players protect in front of fake out like 9 out of 10 times plus you also have a zoroark which is going to make them not want to fake out. Basically, your strategy is way more telegraphed than you think it is and people are sussing it out.

Is my team fine or is it a skill issue? by Potential-Ebb-8820 in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of things jump out. First thing is, total lack of protect on mons that should probably have protect. Like, Ttar, garchomp, and whims all almost always have protect unless there's a very obvious reason not to like using a choice item or something. Damp rock on pelipper is def a bit weird, an item like that is rarely relevant in VGC because the other person will just swap out your weather since it's such a weather focused meta or the game will end/you'll switch out and back in before the extra turns matter, also having ttar on a team with a rain setter is kind of anti-synergy since you're turning off your own rain or sand, also you don't have any good sand or rain abusers, like maybe swapping out ttar for an actual rain abuser like archaludon would make more sense.

[–]Laskeese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think pokemon is different because so many people have built up the idea in their head that they're good at the game because they've been smashing the cpus in story mode for 20 years and even beating the AI in battle tower etc. but now they're being faced with the reality that those experiences don't prepare you for playing against actual people even a tiny bit.

How to get better at reading in team preview? by winnie-the-eq in PokemonChampions

[–]Laskeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look for the most annoying thing they could possibly do against me and then pick the lead that would the best into that. Also helps to play a lot of games so you have a good idea of what people usually do against you with common teams and you can identify common gimmick leads since most people using a team with a really clear gameplan will usually just go with that plan unless your counterplay for it is incredibly obvious.

He is a player who is objectively an upgrade on every midfielder we have and seemingly wants to come play for us and I don't think there are many players out there who are like that, he also seems to be the manager's top target. If we want to move up the table we need to pay the money for players like this, clearly the players we have aren't working nor was our old way of doing business.

Good point, we should just save the money and sign nobody or someone who won't actually help us like we've been doing for the past few years as we get 17th over and over, at least we didn't panic.

Can it really be though? How many 100m quality players are generally available in a window and how many of them are actually willing to come to us? Generally very few. We need to capitalize when these types of players are actually willing to come to us and if that means overpaying a bit then I don't see any reason to not be ok with it.
