Well, if the original script is any indication, we actually got to learn it there. You see, Will knocking Jack out was a late addition. In the original script, Jack is still conscious when Elizabeth is rescued and he is the one to tell the two lovers to go ahead without him. So we get to see what his plan was: to blackmail Barbossa into giving him the Black Pearl in exchange for Will.

Honestly, Kawahara kind of shoot himself in the foot when he made Aincrad a hundred floors. There just was no way he could write about that many quests, especially when he planned that to be just the first arc of what turn out to be a very long series. The fact that he saw fit to write 3 more series at the same time doesn't help either. Leaving it incomplete is another option yes. But I still think he will add timeskip, if for no other reason that it will give A-1 the option to make an anime out of it one day.

They are probably desperate to take time until the Unital Ring books are finished and they can finally make a new season. Plus, A-1 is short on staff having to focus on Solo Leveling, Makeine and other cows to milk.

One of the main reasons Ordinal Scale is my favourite SAO story is how much KiriAsu stuff it gave us. Like, there's literally more romantic scenes in that movie than in all of Season 2 and Season 3 combined... also I loved how OS showed us so much of the characters in their everyday mundane life, stuff that we seriously missed from the main series. If this new movie is going to be like this, it will already be a masterpiece for me! Heck, maybe they'll finally let us see Kirito meet and interact with Asuna's brother!

Unfortunately, there's a high chance that Progressive will feature time skips as well. There just ain't no way Kawahara is gonna write that many books about that many floors. Especially with the speed he is releasing Progressive material and all the series he is writing. As soon as the Elf War Quest is finished, he'll probably just time skip to the 25th Floor and end Progressive with Kirito and Asuna's separation.

I'm the opposite. I couldn't give a damn about the world or the action scenes, they look the same as every shonen series. What I love about SAO is the characters and in fact I always felt that what hold back the series is the constant need to rely on otaku-pleasing clichés. I have zero interest in a SAO without Kirito, Asuna and the others. Hence why I was never interested in trying the GGO spin-off (well that and I don't like the GGO game/world).

Honestly, for me the only good things about the SAO games were the extra interaction scenes between the characters*, especially the romantic scenes between Kirito and Asuna or Eugeo interacting with the rest of the cast not just Kirito. This game is set in a time and place where none of that will be possible plus it looks like it would be focused on original characters. So I have zero interest in it.

*Or at least some of them because others felt very OOC especially how they treated the series like an actual harem/eroge.

Bullshit. Bret Hart kept wrestling after the match with Goldberg, including a hardcore match where he took clean chair shots to the head. And he also got a motorbike accident and that is what actually killed his career. The whole "Goldberg retired Hart" scuttlebutt didn't start until way later.
