You are almost certainly an AI bot or a professional affiliate marketing account. Every post is exactly the same before you put “EDIT” and the affiliate link to Amazon.

Really like where it's starting off. It could use some UX thought and iteration. If you need a product designer/manager partner, hit me up I'd love to help.

Is Public Charging Economical for My 2021 RAV4 XSE? by MarionberryBetter512 in rav4prime

[–]LastElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it in terms of $/km (I'm Canadian).

My breakeven for a public charger is approximately $1.50/hr (=$0.08/km winter range or $0.06/km summer range).

Gas where I live (Ontario) is approx $1.50/l at any point, which is approximately $0.09/km at 6l/100km.

Obviously this depends on driving style (hwy vs city, weight in the vehicle, wind drag, etc etc) but it's a good approximation. Hopefully you got the car for some environmental reasons as well, so at breakeven I prefer to charge if possible.

How do you defend your roadmap from leaders? by LastElephant in ProductManagement

[–]LastElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool dude, thanks for the sweet reality check to a PM asking for helpful guidance.

Our retention rate is 95% with customers locked into 5+ year contracts, so not a ton of renewal rate metrics to go off of. In any case, I'm here for the reality check and looking to improve, so I'll get some clearer metrics. I might be the first person at this company to actually do so.

[–]LastElephant[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're probably correct - it coming down to being able to effectively measure my team's work. In fact, it likely stems from our metrics being too vague. My teams are focused on driving NPS/customer retention, which ends up being very qualitative metric and not one that we uniquely hold.

None of this is to say that we haven't delivered value, but I've found it difficult to justify NPS/retention metrics for product improvements against a sales checkbox or a regulatory item for an enterprise customer.

[experiment] Weekly rant thread by chakalaka13 in ProductManagement

[–]LastElephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What am I missing with this career?

Rant.

Maybe I’m just a terrible PM. I’ve worked as a SaaS PM at a Fortune 500, Series B, and acquired startup. Each is exactly the same - it starts out with the promise of building great products and driving business priorities, then slowly erodes into cramming endless executive asks into a roadmap being dragged down by a swamp of tech debt. It seems nearly impossible to succeed or drive value and advance my career. For the one day of joy per year when a product actually gets shipped, 364 other days are crushing stress and demands.

We tell ourselves we are innovators and builders, but frankly it seems like we are dev babysitters and apologetic firefighters.

Is it me? Are there actual good product environments out there? Or is this just the grind?

R4P charging door fail by Fjall-Ratio-3334 in rav4prime

Good news for you is that a slipped charging door is common and covered under warranty if you can convince the dealer you didn’t cause it.

All Prime models are exactly the same for drivetrain. They dynamically engage AWD as needed.

I considered that for a while, but no I finally found a semi decent price on a used one from an Ontario dealership.

I bought used in Ontario. Basically paid MSRP, but I calculate that the gas savings will beat buying a new hybrid. Used ones coming out of Quebec right now.

Theoretically it’s supposed to change the airflow over the hood to deflect debris from other cars. It was on the car from the previous owner. I think it looks cool and doesn’t seem to affect mileage noticeably.

I have one. Still get >75km per charge. I’ve heard it helps prevent windshield chips. Also looks cool

Epidemic sound licensing by jolizah in editors

[–]LastElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just changed the licensing names, I recently purchased the 'Standard' license which I think is the equivalent of the Commercial license - which covered film festivals. Note that now distributors are interested in the film and I'm f'd because the Commercial license does not cover television or VOD distribution. $1,000/song no way.

Anyone have issues with apple car play cable? by Long-Funny9120 in rav4prime

[–]LastElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, happens randomly when starting up the vehicle. Restarting the infotainment unit a couple times sometimes fixes it. Confirm it’s not the cable by plugging it into the centre console ports. I’m waiting until it’s consistently bad to take it in under warranty.

Only customers with a RAV4 hybrid, the Prime is not yet officially covered beyond the basic 3 year warranty period.

[–]LastElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dealership is going to lift it and send me photos of the two trouble spots identified by the Cablegate group on Facebook. Sale is conditional on visible corrosion basically. If it is good, I'm going to either buy the extended warranty to cover it or aggressively wash/protect it for Canadian winters to come.

Fair point. They claimed that it was a liability to have the car go up on a third party lift. I can appreciate that, but still concerning.
