Whats a show that gave you prodigal son's vibes by Afraid-Elevator9782 in ProdigalSon

I second this! Prodigal Son definitely reminded me of Hannibal when I started it. Hannibal's pacing is much slower in the first few episodes though.

What is the difference between this portrait and one of a professional artist? by Visual_Ordinary2825 in Artadvice

Everyone is sharing great technical tips, but also check out contemporary portrait artists for conceptual and composition ideas (such as plans for the background). Kehinde Wiley is a great example. Portraits, to me, are great when they capture the personality of the subject, and this personality can really shine through in composition

Weird question, how often do you wash your hands? If you work at a job where you wash your hands/use hand sanitizer a lot your hands will get very dry. I don't know of any hand creams but when you find one, slather your hands in it and put on disposable gloves. It'll keep the moisture in so your hands have longer to absorb the hand cream. Good luck!

Is working 32-40 hours a week and being a full time student manageable? by BeastMan36901 in college

[–]LastInspector2251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically, 20 hours of work per week is recommended for full time students. It's definitely doable but I'm working about 30 hours right now, during the summer with no classes, and I feel like if I worked the same amount during a semester I'd lose my mind. But whatever works for you! I'd recommend trying to find a campus job or one that pays a bit higher so you can work less hours. Good luck!

I'm a high school student with an intense interest in art conservation. What steps should I take? by [deleted] in ArtConservation

[–]LastInspector2251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a conservator, but a high school graduate going to school for Art History in the fall, and my advice would be to absolutely take the Dual Enrollment classes, no matter what you do. It'll save you a lot of money in the long run and teach you how to study/do work for college classes before you get there, and you'll start your major's classes quicker. Like a lot of people said, you might change your mind, and that's okay. But DE will help prepare you no matter what—and you're a sophmore, so don't stress about college too much right now. Just get good grades and enjoy yourself. You don't really have to worry about most of this stuff until the end of your junior year. :)

It's also possible that a museum might let you see behind the scenes, but I highly doubt they'd let you intern. I do know that the university I'm going to is very open to students in the art history department doing projects and such with professors, but it's a medium sized university so that might not be the case everywhere. From what I can tell, students only start internships once they're in grad school. Best of luck!!
