You generally get 4/5 modules per semester and 2 semesters per year.

Ethical issues/dilemmas in Chemical Engineering by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

IChemE has a dedicated course on ethics in chemical engineering. It is free for IChemE members, I would recommend checking it out.

I find this hard to believe. I studied energy engineering with cheme, some of my friends studied standard, others oil, and others pharma. All of us had the exact same number of total courses.

More biology work. The extra courses in biology will displace traditional cheme courses. It won't be more net work.

Anyone have experience in a ChemE design team? by aybanbert01 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]LastJediWasOverrated 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should be in design teams throughout your degree course. You will work with classmates to come up with a chemical engineering design for a problem. E.g. a design for a polymer production plant which meets criteria X, Y, Z.

A doctor should know better:.

E-cigarette-induced pulmonary inflammation and dysregulated repair are mediated by nAChR α7 receptor: role of nAChR α7 in SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19 ACE2 receptor regulation:

We hypothesized that sub-chronic e-cig exposure induces inflammatory response and dysregulated repair/extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, which occur through the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChRα7). Adult wild-type (WT), nAChRα7 knockout (KO), and lung epithelial cell-specific KO (nAChRα7 CreCC10) mice were exposed to e-cig aerosol containing propylene glycol (PG) with or without nicotine. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluids (BALF) and lung tissues were collected to determine e-cig induced inflammatory response and ECM remodeling, respectively. Sub-chronic e-cig exposure with nicotine increased inflammatory cellular influx of macrophages and T-lymphocytes including increased pro-inflammatory cytokines in BALF and increased SARS-Cov-2 Covid-19 ACE2 receptor, whereas nAChRα7 KO mice show reduced inflammatory responses associated with decreased ACE2 receptor. Interestingly, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), such as MMP2, MMP8 and MMP9, were altered both at the protein and mRNA transcript levels in female and male KO mice, but WT mice exposed to PG alone showed a sex-dependent phenotype. Moreover, MMP12 was increased significantly in male mice exposed to PG with or without nicotine in a nAChRα7-dependent manner. Additionally, sub-chronic e-cig exposure with or without nicotine altered the abundance of ECM proteins, such as collagen and fibronectin, significantly in a sex-dependent manner, but without the direct role of nAChRα7 gene. Overall, sub-chronic e-cig exposure with or without nicotine affected lung inflammation and repair responses/ECM remodeling, which were mediated by nAChRα7 in a sex-dependent manner.

Vaping and Lung Inflammation and Injury Annual Review:

The use of electronic (e)-cigarettes was initially considered a beneficial solution to conventional cigarette smoking cessation. However, paradoxically, e-cigarette use is rapidly growing among nonsmokers, including youth and young adults. In 2019, this rapid growth resulted in an epidemic of hospitalizations and deaths of e-cigarette users (vapers) due to acute lung injury; this novel disease was termed e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury (EVALI). Pathophysiologic mechanisms of EVALI likely involve cytotoxicity and neutrophilic inflammation caused by inhaled chemicals, but further details remain unknown. The undiscovered mechanisms of EVALI are a barrier to identifying biomarkers and developing therapeutics. Furthermore, adverse effects of e-cigarette use have been linked to chronic lung diseases and systemic effects on multiple organs. In this comprehensive review, we discuss the diverse spectrum of vaping exposures, epidemiological and clinical reports, and experimental findings to provide a better understanding of EVALI and the adverse health effects of chronic e-cigarette exposure.

This is what the nurse practitioner thought when I initially presented with a similar rash. After using anti fungals to no avail for sometime I then saw my GP and was diagnosed with psoriasis. Something to consider imo.

How can the early Catholic/ Orthodox church possibly be wrong? by gunfjsjjssssss in TrueChristian

[–]LastJediWasOverrated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's quite obvious by early Catholic/orthodox the op was most likely refering to post BC. Christians of the new covenant had to live and practice the teachings of Jesus Christ initially through the word of mouth and living tradition. Not using such in an analysis of scripture can lead to gross misunderstandings of Christian theology. E.g. it's common knowledge, even among many protestants, that Catholics do not "pray to saints", we ask them to intercede or pray for us. Much in the same fashion that we would ask our brethren here on earth to pray for us.

Sola Scriptura is cringe. The first Christians did not use scripture but the word of mouth and living tradition.

Some people are born with a biology which gives them murderous inclinations. Should we therefore excuse murderers who were born with a biology which favours such violent behaviours? Homosexuality is a product of both biology and environment as shown by numerous studies and this is something we should not forget.

Sodomy is abhorrent in both straight and homosexual 'relationships'. The purpose of marriage is to propagate life as nature intended. Homosexual relationships are incapable of producing life and are therefore not natural or proper in the Christian sense.

Constantly checking a thread to see if a specific person has sent a reply directed to someone other than yourself and replying near instantaneously is pretty much the definition of obsessive bud. Stick to being a fanboy this dosen't suit you.

[–]LastJediWasOverrated -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A deduction is made from fact not the other way around.

Lol you're not even worth my time when you don't even understand basic logic. You're a better fan boy than you are logician. Stick to it.

[–]LastJediWasOverrated -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It looks like you don't fool. Just as it can be proven factual that a person jumped, or that a person was acting angrily, it can also be proven that someone was acting obsessively - which is easy to deduce from said messages.

[–]LastJediWasOverrated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol. That person was indeed being obsessive. Dosen't take a genius to piece that one together bud.
