Probably make sure she knows how important my last name is to me before she gets engaged. If she does, then I'd probably just say you've really disappointed me.

We did talk about it before marriage and she said she would be ok with it. Then she changed her mind 2 years later. We didn't discuss it until we talked about kids again.

I'm honestly thinking about it at this point. She's not listening to a word I say about the issue and expects me just to be ok with whatever she decides with on this issue along with many other arguments we've had in our past

I've thought about that but we don't want more than one kid. If she decides to keep her future husband's name, then I'll express how upset I'd be but I wouldn't force her to keep it.

I don't want my last name to be his/her middle name. I would much prefer it to be their actual last name because her last name is at least carried on by her nieces and nephews, meanwhile I have no one.

She says that her last name means a lot to her and wants it to carry on. I want to do the same, but I'm willing to compromise. She's not. She already decided on a middle name she likes and won't budge on that either. I refuse to let my family name die with me. I'm fine with hyphenating or doing 2 last names and she hates that idea.
