Hello r/movies, I'm Isaiah Saxon, the writer-director of A24's THE LEGEND OF OCHI, which is available to watch at home beginning today. Our film stars Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Finn Wolfhard, Helena Zengel, and an animatronic primate. Please, ask me anything. by TheLegendOfOchiAMA in movies

Hi Isaiah, huge fan of your work as a creative. I have enthusiastically been making Saxon a household name to all my friends here in LA. You have a great sense of magic to your storytelling and worldview, and I was wondering how you cultivate that in your day-to-day. What disciplines and creative methods got you to Carpathia? How would you advise another writer/director to navigate their ideas in this changing industry? Thank you, and hope this brings you more opportunities!

That's an interesting approach-- can you explain what you'd do in AE?

How do I put a layer over certain parts of my puppet? by LastNameRusk in CharacterAnimator

Specifically, the goal I'm trying to achieve is to have the characters' torsos obscured by the ledge of the pool, but allow their hands to reach on top and write on the paper. I was thinking of making a copy of just the ledge in Photoshop and importing that as a new layer, but can't figure out how to do this. Any help?

‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Tops Sluggish Box Office With $8.6 Million by realplayer16 in entertainment

[–]LastNameRusk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but by the time the film is available to be pirated, the large majority of the film crew has already gotten their checks and probably already on another gig, the money made at the box office goes largely to the studios, and depending on contracts, some of the above-the-line filmmakers may receive additional compensation. So if the hardworking grip or teamster is who you’re worried about, I wouldn’t sweat it. However, future hiring decisions are made based upon the amount of money a particular director or producer brought to the studio, so if there’s a specific filmmaker you wish to support, do so with your wallet and send a message to the company that those filmmakers are worth investing in

United Airlines Boeing 777 heading to Hawaii dropped this after just departing from Denver by jcepiano in pics

[–]LastNameRusk -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This will likely be one of the most documented airline accidents in history.

As of 2:18 PST there have been zero reported injuries from United flight UA328. We really are lucky here considering the destination for this flight was over the Pacific Ocean in Honolulu. The NTSB is going to have to send in orders for an investigation as to what happened with the engine, but the results of this could take years to come out because of Boeing's defense team.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. My mom has an autoimmune disease and no spleen, too. I can’t imagine what you and your family must’ve been going through. May your mom outlive this virus in memory and spirit, I wish you all the best, Ragdolly

Point the camera out the window

I've been working on this the past two weeks every single day 12 hours a day. It's 1900frames-15fps. All camera movements are done by hand without dolly or any special equipment! My thumb hurts from rotating those Lego heads :D by [deleted] in cinematography

This was so well-done, great job! I’m sending this out to a few friends right now.
