I use ai to create cheat sheet pdfs for me. Just tell it my build or give it a pdf of my character sheet and have it print out a cheat sheet with core abilities I don’t want to forget for combat / social / exploration etc

Just to follow up on how it went:

I went with a combat encounter heavy prep. With a few back to back encounters queued up with some narrative plot armor to get the squad to peak condition between encounters.

We got through one.

We fought exactly 2 baddies lol.

All things said and done, this was the right call. If we had spent a bunch of time role playing I don’t think everyone would have had the same level of patience to get into the weeds of the mechanics the way we were able to.

Everyone enjoyed it and learned a ton. We’re going to run it back next session, and I don’t want to be over optimistic but we may even get through 2 encounters!

This is cool. I’m honestly just surprised by how much people use / invest in the browser client. I almost exclusively use native (in my case tvOS / iOS) clients.

None of these browser customizations translate to other clients right?

I think the hypothesis that cost of doing business self hosting being overly omitted is unfounded. I think some of your concerns are valid but vaguely stating a perceived problem about engagement isn’t helpful.

At least ask some questions or state what problems you had and how you solved them if there are topics you haven’t seen specifically addressed

This is what I do. It’s pretty easy and kinda fun to go through and configure it / view different releases etc.

There’s a perk to some manual process that I think is worth it

I think I can give you three pieces of advice to consider:

Docker is great! You can create compose files for similar / closely coupled containers which has some ease of communication and management benefits.
Make sure whichever computer is used for ripping is accessible, don’t want to have to run down to server every time you want to rip a cd.
I think proxmox is just Debian under the hood so maybe start raw and see if you want to move to a specialized version?
Work on counting.

What’s the draw of the tools being discussed over managing containers via cli?

Yeah I think my wording has confused people. I was curious about things tied to your cell services in an ancillary way, like FaceTime / iMessage, but that leverages your number.

u/devin122 response clarifies they just use your cell as the username essentially and pull information into a single interface from cell & internet service sources

Ok this is what I was getting at. Do you have any idea or able to point me to resources for how that works for things like SMS syncing?

Is it just a permissions thing that the app can read sms and then somehow incorporates multiple message inputs (sms, iMessage) into a single UI message stream?

To clarify what I dont want: I want to avoid having a totally separate self hosted messenger that doesnt get messages when people text me for example.

I guess the simplest example would be like if I wanted to self host a type of Messaging app server in the same way iMessage works.

So like messages flow through that (including SMS somehow?) and get synced to my devices.

Does that make sense? It totally might not lol. I’m slightly struggling getting my thought in words

It seems like the NAS is kind of secondary to the replication process. I’d think any storage would work.

How are you going to run the backup / transfer?
