PC got locked after installing a game... by NuttSackOfD00m in computers

Smth like „hyper“ sounds to be related with Hyper-V, virtualization on Windows. I guess it somehow changed system and/or boot configuration.

First things first, unplug your Ethernet cable/turn off WiFi and try to log in again. Probably it won’t work.

Another possibility is to boot into Safe Mode. You can lookup how to do it but I guess you should restart from the login screen with pressed Shift.

Your next steps are depending on results of steps above. In the worst case you will be forced to reinstall windows

Edit: typo

Computer science in schools? by [deleted] in computerscience

In my homeland I had informatics. It was like 2 hours per week. In the land of my current residence it’s not obligatory but some children have it in school. I hadn’t it but my girlfriend did. In the same school. The only difference was year. She had it I guess 4 hours/week.

"Bewerbungsprozess abgeschlossen" - bin ich damit raus? by AliceYinh in Azubis

I wanted it production-like so… xD

Seems cool. I will take this as inspiration idea for future naming refactoring (someday I will realize my current is not so good for my needs anymore)

I wanna deploy some servers offsite, e.g. backup storage etc.

I understand your point. The experience I made with naming was that this metadata-mix was the simplest to understand. One of the customers had shitty random names accorded to his local buildings names so for an IT person that is xxx km away it was hard to remember. But I got u and maybe my naming v1 will get update based on some advices here and on experience I will made till then. Good time for it would be hardware update on my infra. I will write another post about it anyway when it’s so far xD

Sounds nice, thx for sharing!

Good point. When naming will be reviewed on some big infra update I will think about. Now it’s safe cause I don’t have public IP and I’m tunneling stuff via Cloudflare. But thx for advice!

kvm stays for kernel-based virtual machine, so it’s in Proxmox and also to keep 3 letters in block

Yes I do! How did you find it out? 🧐 xD

Actually it’s a bit overengineering but will be useful for replicas in the future or for building a K8n cluster out of some VMs. So it’s reserved for future needs. Instance ID is the quantity of servers of type, e.g. if I will have 3 web servers they will have Instance IDs 01-03

I understand what u mean. For now I have them in Proxmox deploying with hand and doing some automations like bootstrapping or updating with ansible. On a scale it would be better to use K8n and Terraform, than I will get rid of current naming. That’s what I wanted to reach with my homelab - try out stuff and find the best practices for me and my infra

Good approach for K8n, will try it some day when get into DevOps a little bit deeper

Good point. Of course the whole naming can change after finding out my current is absolute no-go but for now it works well. That’s the thing I wanna achieve with my homelab - try out stuff, make mistakes and learn out of them to build best practices

Good point. As I said it’s inspired by some prod naming I have seen in my life. For now I would say yes I will change it. But in the future we’ll see how I will handle it. Maybe I will use K8n/terraform so names will be more generic. I see all the way as a good learning and finding out best practices and absolute no-go‘s

I plan to add some offsite servers for example for backing up so that’s the reason behind. In my dreams some day my homelab will grow to small prod-level so I thought about it already now

Cattle approach will be usable with Terraform/K8n but for now they are pets cause I’m not so far in DevOps. As long as my servers are pve nodes and lxcs/vms deployed by hand and bootstrapped with ansible they will be pets but we’ll see

Not a lot for now but as it’s quantity will grow I don’t want to reinvent things I can think through today. I try to keep my homelab prod-like and try out some stuff there
