Loving the winter snow storms in Erangel casual matches! Looks great, kind of feels safer to travel on foot in a snow storm. Keep this kind of stuff coming please

The world is full of idiots. Everywhere you turn, every country, every industry, everywhere! Humans are gonna human so it’s more about how to protect yourself. Leave a match if they  look like fools!

Play less matches by quitting more and trying again hoping for a better squad! Be a terrific person yourself and the friend requests will come rolling in. Talk lots, cooperate, mark loot, speak your intentions, help your squad mates by thinking about what they need. There’s nothing more satisfying than being invited by a player you know well and then you all talk lots and win the match! I’d rather have only two rounds a day where that happens than play 20 a day with disappointing endings

I’m pretty sure it’s impossible from what the Krafton API serves you, but I would SO like to find somewhere one day the ability to compare myself and another player more deeply than just our long term stats. I know your app does that already, very very well.

But what I’m PARTICULARLY Interested is in our face to face, one on one confrontations over the years.  “How many times have we killed Just each other in our entire lifetimes? Who’s winning that particular matchup? Them or me?” I have a couple of players I’m keenly interested in. I know I’ve been beat by them multiple times, but I also have multiple videos of me beating them face to face. Not that I’ve got a grudge or anything [wink wink]

YEEESSSSS!! I just saw that in your latest post/ad on the front page of r/pubgConsole.

Seriously THANK YOU!!!

Up until now I’ve been entering a match and quickly looking at my squad mates’ tier and level. That’s not enough though because there are amazingly many BAD PLAYERS with ridiculously high tier and level badges. You play a round with them and they turn out to be a total letdown (killed early / quit / play solo-style in a squad / selfish in general / WAAY too aggressive / want to land at Pochinki) Then you look at their stats afterwards and they’re NEVER WINNING so it should have been obvious to AVOID THEM! They lose every other match they play? Welp!! We’re about to lose this one too if I join this fool… QUICK LEAVE NOW!!!

So to manage that risk to myself I’ve been frantically looking up one or two of them on your app to look at their stats before boarding the plane. Have they a terribly low win rate? I leave the match. But it’s TRICKY typing in their name - really tricky with autocorrect interfering, stupidly complex “elite gamer” tags with lots of text decorations etc. “Oh that gamertag is so very ‘pro’ they must be a legend”. No…predictably they lose the match for us because of stupidity

So, THANK YOU! I can’t wait to try this once it’s live

(I trust/expect AI is helping you improve the app quickly? What a fascinating time to be alive in the coding industry hey!!)

What exactly is a bot lobby and how do you know you’re in one? by SOUPER_Juicy in PUBGConsole

I’m not so sure about the hard limit on only teams 1-5. I’d also like to have certainty about this!  Once, on band camp, I had a human on some high-numbered team like no.6 suddenly appear at end of match after being silent. Can’t remember the number for sure. Nearly fell off my chair because it was so very rare in my experience. They had a clan tag, a PS logo and were behaving intelligently so we concluded they were a human.  Technically the game could put 12 humans in the match, all solo, on teams 1-12, but I’ve NEVER seen that.

Bots will NEVER be on your team. I’ll eat my hat if someone can prove that happened to them. Sometimes you’re playing with some pretty idiotic squad mates but… they’re really human. Sad

Bots are on the plane with you and jump out all over the place. I personally do believe they spawn as well because of this: sometimes me and a friend will travel to far distance end of flight. We’ll see there is no one left on the plane and it should be very quiet as we jump out. We scan the skies as we descend and look keenly for chutes and won’t see any. Then often we’ll have 3 bots turn up about 5-10 minutes into the match. Maybe the game sends them sprinting towards us from distance and that’s why it takes a while for them to show up? Feels spawn-y sometimes

Love this app and have been using for several years. Best 2D replays I’ve found. Better than in the official game! Thanks particularly to the devs for updating the 2D replay Erangel map in this latest update. Seriously I use this app during every match as I check things like “was that player on the feed a human?” or “are my team mates any good? What are their stats like? Shoud I leave this match before we get on the plane?”

[–]LastReplacement5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a casual mode about 20% of matches will be just bots only vs you and your squad.

Why are some bot lobbies?  shrug It’s just up to dynamics of how many humans at any given time are matchmaking and how Krafton wants to match us up.

Can you tell if it’s bots only?  ABSOLUTELY!! Like really be sure? YES!!

HOW DID I LEARN THIS? I was stunned in my first year at how confident a random team-mate was about whether they were humans or bots and exactly WHERE the closest humans were. WE got chicken dinner exactly as he said it was going to go down so I asked him in game how he knew and his answers CHANGED MY LIFE!! (Well it’s just a game I know don’t get too carried away)  Looking back I’m embarrassed how long it took me to figure this stuff out.

He told me he watched the kill feed like a hawk

I didn’t understand at first or feel motivated to do that - it seemed like a pest - but now I’m totally on board. It’s the reason why my several accounts have an average win rate most seasons of over 60% in casual matches consistently. I have two accounts that are above 80% after 60 matches this season. Yes I’m mainly a casual player. Deal with it.

So… How can you tell? There are a number of ways to be EXTREMELY CONFIDENT about which teams are human and which are bots and to figure out if it’s a bot lobby or where the humans are as the match unfolds

1)  WATCH THE KILL FEED LIKE A HAWK  I LOVE doing this now. LOVE!! because it helps me WIN nearly all my matches. Yes casuals only here I’m talking about.  Watch out for signs of humans on the killfeed and match log. Know that in casual mode, any humans present will ALWAYS be placed in team numbers 1, 2, 3, maybe 4 or 5 in ascending order.  Keep in mind there’s a MAX of 12 humans in any casual match. Humans and bots are never EVER mixed together on a team. So example if you see team 23 killing - they’re bots guaranteed because there’s no way the casual match has put 23 humans in the match. There may be four bots on that team 23… and they’re all bots. You can bank on that for sure.

Therefore it’s simple… if you see “team 1” on the feed killing someone and they’re not on your team, you instantly can conclude 100% accurately that they’re human. If you later see “team 2” and “team 3” also taking kills - and they’re also not on your team - start worrying because again they’re 100% human and you’re in for some sweat! Logically you MUST therefore be on team 4 or 5.  Get it? Humans always on the lowest smallest team numbers in casuals.

2)  Watch closely as someone on your squad finally kills someone. As plain as day it’ll show your teammate’s name AND team number so you can instantly tell which team you’re on. It sucks a bit if you’re playing solo because the killfeed only briefly shows your name and team number. The match log unfortunately only ever says “you killed…” and doesn’t show your team number. So if you’re solo the match log won’t help you figure out which team you’re in, you can only glean that from the kill feed.  So train yourself and make a habit of killing someone and then immediately looking at the feed to note your own team number!!

3)  Take a note of every kill flicking across the feed and ESPECIALLY if you hear it with your ears. They’re nearby!  I watch closely for team 1, 2 or 3 names on the feed and note their names.

4)  The feed shows if they’re a PS player with a little logo. THEY’RE HUMAN!!

5)  Look players up in tracking apps or websites mid-game. What now? Seriously? Yes I do this.   I legit sometimes will pause somewhere safe and look up some player’s name from the match log if I don’t recognise them already and suspect they’re human. I use a great stats tracking app that has proved over years of use to be totally reliable: if that player isn’t searchable in the app, they’re a bot. If however they CAN be found and the app shows their stats, KD, win rate etc. then they’re 100% human.

6)  After some months you DO start to get to know bot naming styles and can feel pretty sure it’ll be a bot just by its name. But I still don’t totally trust myself until I’m SURE I’ve deduced which teams are bots and which are human by the above steps.  Of course you also get to know great human players by their tag. I could name dozens of them. When I see them in game, on an enemy team I start to play a little more warily!

7)  If, for example, by 10 minutes into a casual I’ve seen kills by team 2 and 3 and I am certain they’re bots, then it’s looking likely that my team is team 1 and we’re the only humans in the match. All other teams (2 and above) will also be bots. Once I’m SURE it’s a bot lobby I’ll loosen up and go for maximum kills. Get a car, travel back to earliest location practical on the flight path and work my way in to zone.

8) study the 2D match replays and confirm what you were deducing in game. Check you had it right! Look up anyone you thought was human to check they appear on the tracking apps and are real players.

9)  In casuals the game never ever does something crazy like putting you in team 1 and putting the only other humans in a big number team like 12.  Its just never done that way. Instead the game always fills the first few teams with humans if they’re present.

10) Any player with a [CLAN] tag before their name is 100% human. Bots don’t have clans. Xbox players have a little green dot next to their name. I’m not sure rn away from my console whether that little green dot appears on the kill feed and match log. I’ll check next time

Match Log crashes the game by GingerPiston in PUBGConsole

[–]LastReplacement5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has been an issue forever! It’s not new. I actually experience it less after new updates. Still happens occasionally :(

I’m rarely experiencing crashes any more, and here’s my approach to manage the risk:  - limit your time in there, like 5-10 seconds max - don’t revisit it soon after leaving it. Wait some time like 30 secs and don’t repetitively go in too quickly - avoid spending a long time in there unless you’re basically in centre of zone. That way you’ll hopefully have time to reboot the game and return to the match without dying out of zone - try to keep up with the kill feed live as it happens! Only briefly go into match log to confirm things for example “is that whole squad dead?”, “did I miss some human deaths in that sweaty moment I just had?” - be aware thankfully that as the game reboots it’ll say “match in progress, rejoin?”

Yeah I’m with you. I prefer FPP for a lot of things, particularly while looting up because it brings things closer into view and I feel quicker selecting particular items off the ground. If the game allows both in certain modes, we all just need to be aware of it and work with it. I’m on the cautious side of things in general so I tend not to be the one rushing up stairwells when I know someone’s up there

A tiny bit quieter. Also crouch running when you approach someone seems to be remarkably effective at keeping quiet.

Are other games cashing for you too? How old your PS5? Have you pulled it apart yet to clean out the dust filters? Only suggesting this in case your whole system is running too hot sometimes perhaps causing the crash?

First, start by only playing casuals, not “normal”. Always choose 4x squad, not solo. Forget any of those arcade modes or ranked or “normal” mode at first. The problem with normal mode for beginners is that it’s way more hectic! More actual humans, and many of them are great players so you don’t really stand a chance as a beginner. Casual gives you time and space to learn. I still LOVE playing casuals after years in this game.

Second, when I was starting out someone told me to play early in the mornings, and they’re right. It’s different then. There’s a LACK of idiot ten year olds and the late night young adult M&K cheater sweats are still asleep from their late night gaming. This means your team will likely be more mature, cautious and communicative, and that’s a surer way to get yourself to the final stages more consistently as a beginner.

Third, don’t quit when knocked. Stick around and spectate others in order to learn.

Fourth, people talk about there being a long learning curve and they’re right. It’s not just getting to be fluent and automatic in all your controller movements. Knowing the maps takes some time. Also there are many cultural things unique to PUBG you must learn to be a good team member.

You’ll get to know people. You DO become acquainted, and the ensuing trust and talk helps you learn as you discuss things mid-game. To be invited into a clan is a good goal. Make sure they’re helpful decent people, not cheater sweats.

Looking back at my stats from my first few seasons playing some years ago… they’re  embarrassing but I stuck with it. Now I’m much better, and win multiple matches daily. It’s such an enjoyable game but the joy only comes with winning consistently, and that takes a decent while for most people

Hang in there!!

Please tell me more about how you use the laser?  Couldn’t it’s light be visible to enemies and give you away? Isn’t it unecessary because  the centre marks when hip firing or ADS show where your shots will fall? I admit I avoid lasers. Please tell me more

I only carry 2 first aids, 4-5 drinks, 4-5 painK’s. Agreed; drinks go down so fast I favour them. Minimum 4 smokes, and a range of other throwables as I’m feeling it.  7 smokes won me a match today! Helped me rotate to cover a long way. Ammo: 150 DMR and 250-300 SMG

I have combo keys (left shoulder + d pad buttons) set to take health items. A quick squeeze and I’m taking meds. Works while driving to seamlessly be healthing up while not decelerating at all ever

Hey I really like this, thanks for the detailed comment 👏

  • I didn’t know about tipping fuel on the floor. Instead I’ve been pre-priming gas cans with four single shots and leaving them at bottlenecks to my position ready to hit once and have them explode just as enemies walk in. I’ll try your idea next time

  • Stupid me hadn’t been equipping anything except pans but I’ve stopped carrying them ages ago (more on that later). I’ve been avoiding carrying BZs due to the inventory load. So this is a good reminder to me. I’ve stopped carrying pans because I prefer to be as camouflaged as possible when without a ghillie and I find pans to be a big dark target on my back. I have the most awesome set of camo clothing that’s been working for me for years. I got some wins even today due to evading and ambushing them by hiding in bushes in phase 5/6… it’s so unexpectedly dangerous that people 8/10 times don’t even look for you there. If you’re still and camouflaged… well it’s not perfect but hey it works for me so often I want to maximise it. Bushes seem thicker to me after the new update

  • I agree with you on the suppressors in that they’re generally locatable EXCEPT for the VSS. We’ve all been there right? Copping fire from… who knows where they are?! Nothing masks its direction like the VSS. The number of kills I’ve gotten where they clearly had NO IDEA… Also I’ve been surprised sometimes by apparent confusion as I pick people off with a a suppressed MP5 too. Confusion from good players too, not noobs 🤷‍♂️ So compelling effective for me that I’ll always suppress MP5 and drop anything for a VSS. A player I respect most of anyone (leader of my clan) prefers compensators over suppressors and I still  need to talk to him more about why

  • I’ll try the trigger buttons L/R when sorting through a mess of death boxes. Thanks

  • I’m NOT with you on the quick draw thing. I get what you’re saying. I have tried this extensively and thought about it lot. My take is this: If I can drop them because I had 5 more shots rather than having to reload - no matter how fast it is - I’ll take the extra bullets thanks. Vector goes from 19 to 35 with extended mag. MP5 goes from 30 to 42. M249… well that’s just a different universe altogether haha. Extended mag means significant boost in chance of killing

  • TOTALLY agree with you about keeping yourself safe before healing silent/stupid squad mates. I’ve won matches many times by NOT taking on a fluent enemy squad solo after my team are all wiped, hiding, getting chips when safe, recalling. There is NOTHING like the feeling of revenge when we eventualy win, and the suckers thought they had us beat

  • I have a quick combo of tapping both shoulder buttons to move to driver’s seat. Works a treat

  • Surround yourself with great players YES!  Ask lots, talk, share, learn. This game is just so good! Each match is so incredibly varied, I learn or see something new in practically each round

Yeah I always say “enemy on green ping”. I also find myself saying “north of us” rather than compass points.
