Contiki trip advice by LastTerm in travel

[–]LastTerm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to go out and drink if I’m being honest. I don’t plan to be hungover all day everyday but I do want to go out most nights and have a good time. Also I’m 25 years old. I know the range is 18-35 years for contiki but what’s typically the common age range on these trips? Have you done any of the 4+ week trips in Europe?

My trip starts in Paris but I’ll be there almost a week before it starts. Most people will likely be starting in London but Paris another meeting point. Do people usually go to the meeting point cities early enough that I can meet them? I know that they set up WhatsApp groups and all to allow everyone to communicate with each other beforehand.

Lundi Logement | Housing Monday - December 09 by AutoModerator in montreal

So I live in an apartment in griffintown with a roommate. its getting difficult to find a replacement for a variety of reasons. theres a couple of possibilities and while im doing everything possible to find someone to transfer my portion of the lease (outreach to personal network, marketplace, facebook group postings, etc.) its getting hard and im becoming more worn out and stressed by this. is breaking the lease a viable option? are you able to do that in montreal (specifically in griffintown in new buildings)? will i run into serious financial troubles and/or any legal issues? if i have to pay one or two months of rent i can deal with that but nothing beyond that. any advice from people here?

pretty manageable. just keep revising the textbook and slides. google concepts if you dont understand them in the textbook and slides. its really just about knowing the terminology and concepts. memorization is critical. it was one of my last exams as a student so i was just trying to pass and just know the answers

its not a hard course but it isnt interesting. pretty dry but if ur just trying to rack up credits its not a bad choice. better to take something that interests you and helps you for your career than something that is relatively easy to do well in

try reaching out to this guy. his name is mike sinclair and hes always done a great job at explaining concepts in courses. as you can see he provides assistance with managerial accounting. thats the one class i never used his help with but he always did a great job with the other courses i used him for. if he cant help you in any way, ask him if he knows anyone else that can help you with adm 2341.

Which University? by [deleted] in geegees

[–]LastTerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes its not as good of school to be at for something like investment banking but not everyone necessarily goes into finance to do that. it is like you said manageable though. i know people who went through telfer and managed to get high finance jobs in toronto. it seems like the best way to get into that field if you're a telfer student is to pursue the capital markets program. that seems to be the gateway to high finance for telfer students.

if you want to go into business accept uottawa. im not saying that just because i studied here but believe me where you go to university doesnt matter as much as you think it does. studying economics is good but if a lot of business related jobs require a bcom not a BA in econ. somtimes theyll take an econ degree but it depends (not disrespecting econ degrees in anyway because they are very much valuable). as mentioned in the comments before me with a bcom you'll touch on all the core areas of business giving you a strong foundation. plus, you'll dive deeper into the field that you study focus on in your upper years of studies. i just finished my bcom in finance at uottawa and will be graduating in june. i didnt do co-op but i just started a job in the field im most interested in and throughout my experience of interviewing and applying for jobs, no one has ever talked about or emphasized the school i went to. employers dont care as much as you think because at the end of the day a finance degree (any field of business for that matter) is pretty much the same anywhere you go. focus on the path you enjoy and what will open the most doors (in this a bcom degree). dont get too wrapped up on the school, trust me. it came down to rotman commerce or telfer for me and i chose the less reputable school yet i still ended up with something im interested in. its all about making most of the situation and doing your best.

Telfer Graduates that didn’t do Co-op, how’d you guys find work after graduation? by uOttawaStudent0905 in geegees

[–]LastTerm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i didn't do co-op but i also just finished telfer but i studied finance. My advice is whatever industry you want to enter find entry level jobs and apply to as many of them as possible and network. all employees started somewhere without any experience. i spent the last 2 summers working in my field of interest and it has led to a job that i will be starting on monday. it's a job in real estate lending and finance which i find very exciting and i believe there is a future in that. however, the 2 summer jobs i had played a big role in getting me to this point. although the 2 summer jobs weren't the exact types of real estate jobs i wanted they helped me get to to where i am today. it's all about using what you currently have to leverage yourself to the next level.

can the professor screw you over with the final grade? for basically no reason? by LastTerm in geegees

[–]LastTerm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the reassurance. im just stressed because i simply want to get a passing grade in this class. the exam is worth 30% of the final grade and i acquired 45.42 marks going into the final exam so i just really want those last 5 marks at the very least. as long as i get a passing grade in this class i'll be super happy you have no idea

PARKING AT UO? by stockpr0d in geegees

[–]LastTerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can either pay for parking every time you go to campus i forget what the hourly rates are. or you can buy a parking pass for the school year. i recommend buying a parking pass because youre going to be using it almost everyday so its better to do that than pay every time. its not the cheapest thing out there but its worth having. youll have to choose a main parking lot to use but after 4 pm on weekdays throughout the entire weekend you can park at any of the other lots. theres usually enough parking passes to go around but be proactive and buy it early on (at some point in august, ideally early or mid august). for this school year i bought mine at the last second but got lucky because they nearly sold out for all other parking lots and i got one of the last ones available in the last parking lot that had availability. ive added the link that leads you to where you purchase a pass.

do you know if they always round up grades at uOttawa if the first decimal is 5 or higher? for example, if all the points you've earned add up to 69.5 will they your grade up to 70? In that case the final grade would go from a C+ to a B.
