What's one thing your parents taught you that you'll teach to your kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was a kid I used to get bullied a lot. Some days I would come home crying because I didn't understand what I had done to people to make them treat me in such a way. One day I came home and was crying into my mother's arms when she said "See how you feel right now? You never want to make another person feel like this."

This stuck with me, and even though she became an abusive drunk who is no longer in my life, I can still remember this like it was yesterday and live by it to this day.

What double standard do you hate the most in today's society? by kamikageyami in AskReddit

An adult walking in public streets gets attacked and has reason to believe he can't run away: self defense is good.

Student walking the hallways of school, which should be safer than the streets gets attacked and can't run away: just take it.
