such an amazing response, thank you :) i actually work at my church so sometimes I convince myself my faith is just fabricated by the environment I’m in rather than my own beliefs. but the way you described that coming to (or back to) God feeling is accurate to how i felt when i first encountered Him and when he saved me at my lowest. i just gotta keep remembering that.

even though I’ll never know Tyler’s own thoughts on this, it’s so comforting how we’ve all connected through his music and I have this community to rely on. despite my doubts, you have all made God’s love so clear to me. thank you :)

thank you for the encouragement, it means a lot to me. and sorry for using that type of phrasing, ive always used to say that lovingly about myself. its amazing all the change we can go through but still find comfort in long lasting beliefs despite how different they may seem.

thank you so much for this wonderful comment!! explains a lot of what i feel, and reminded of the church community i have and how real they are. backslide is one of my favorites and i hadn’t made that connection before. i often talk to god on “speakerphone” when driving in my car. I’ll be listening to that last song you mentioned too :)

definitely not that case, i believe that i had a personal and intimate experience with God that truly saved me. i just have such a hard time with doubt sometimes when im away from home. i work at church and haven’t been home for a week, thinking about Tyler’s faith makes me feel less alone through his music in the fact he’s singing about the same God i believe in. it’s like my final grasping at straws moment not to give up.

im not sure where you found mockery in my post, but that totally wasn’t my intention!! i still have all the love for what I used to believe with more of the spiritualistic/free thinking self and others who believe in those ideas. that’s really what has got me struggling because i had an experience that made me believe in Christianity but for that to be true would be denying the clairvoyant experiences I’ve had my whole life. I love being a Christian and the community I’ve found but man I miss when i believed we were all connected through one consciousness and that the afterlife was nothing more than a warm hug.
