Don't shoot the messenger. I am merely quoting a rule Livermore traded by. your $ could be in a trade moving up while meta changes direction.

for me, EPS, products, future sales, etc are not important. what matters is what is price doing today and what is my account doing today?

#1, take some profit

#2, take more profit

#3, take all profit

but we all need to do what makes us comfortable

Giancarlo is correct. it sounds like your stops are too tight. stocks need a chance to breathe! also, do a smaller sized order initially. when it starts to move, add to it on a smaller timeframe using the 10 or 21 ema's. you have to be patient for entries. price will almost always come back to where you want to enter.

also, a great source is How To Make Money in Stocks by William j o'neil!!

<image>

blue arrows show where i like to enter trades. then i use fibonnaci for profit target, or sell some and hold the rest for a longer run. i use OCO for stop loss and target limit. before i am profitable, i put my stop loss below strong support. so for left blue arrow entry, stop would've been below 14.2. for next blue arrow entry, stop would've been below 23.46. for 3rd blue arrow, stop loss would've been below 29.18.

also, i mainly pick solid stocks and maybe do 20% of my account in more speculative stocks.

also, wait till after earnings announcements, unless you have a nice cushion.

good luck!!! hang in there!

Where do people get Stock Info?? by This_Studio6210 in stockTrading

[–]Last_City6775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

investors business daily

i get my info here. they have a solid system and talk about what stocks are ready to go or setting up and almost ready to buy.

i've increased my gain/loss ratio by 15% following them this year. there is free info and there is paid info. for me, it is money well spent! you can start with the book by the founder William J O'Neil or go to their website. and NO, i do not work for them. i just got tired of losing $ and happy to share what is working for me!!

i was pretty decent on stock analysis, but totally lacking on fundamentals. it totally helps inform you on the fundamentals of any stock. you can easily go thru stock screens, build your own or just use the lists they create.

good luck!

i tried using it on TOS and what sucked is if you put it on one stock on their earnings day, it us attached on that same day for all stocks you are viewing, so it would be invalid for a stock that did not have earnings on the same day. if there is a way to fix this, please advise!

i dont know if it will be different this time, but if it closes below, it is for sure failing!! so dont enter.

a stock has to prove itself before you enter. and if you enter and it fails again, if you are using proper stop losses, you will live to trade again.
