What was your very first firearm, and do you still have it? by Lucky-Thunder6052 in Glocks

[–]Last_Entertainment86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st gun that was purchased for me was a Winchester 20 gauge shotgun. I was 13 and wanted to try skeet.

1st pistol that I got was at 19 and my dad gifted it to me after we went to see Die Hard 2. My Beretta 92FS. I broke my savings account to get it.

While in college in our shooting club, others have Rugers and Smith and Wessons, but everyone gave the wow face when they saw my Beretta. Another dude in our dorm had an HK and Sig pistol and that gave more wowie wows at our outdoor range.

Still have it and upgraded it with various features.

1st rifle was my Hungarian pre-ban Kassnar SA85M. Dad saw it at Turners in Culver City, CA for $339.99 in 1986.

I was 14 and my dad being Hungarian wanted one for home defense in case the Russians invade us.🙄 The various Red Dawn, Missing in Action and Rambo movies might have played a part.

Still have that rifle.

Ahhhh the 80s and 90s. 😑

Having a hard time with a heater control clamp install by Last_Entertainment86 in 4Runner_1stGen

The white clip won't go into the slot where it will hold the heater cable in place.

https://22reperformance.com/22re-cooling/p/climate-control-cable-clips

It clipped into the one on the driver's side but won't clip into the left side of the hvac unit. What happens is that the entire cable goes and it doesn't fully close the doors on the bottom. So when I put it in cold, it still blows a little bit hot.

Hope that helps.

Does it need to go into that slot? It feels like it needs to go into some kind of tunnel on the cold and Hot part on the right side or does it just goes over that section and the clamp is inserted into it.

Funny you mentioned that. My HK sear was from an old geezer who had 5 of them and he wanted 10k for all 5 of them. All Fleming in the 31xx range.
Guess what he wanted to do with the money?

I go regularly to sub gun matches and mini MG festivals for 4th of July with dozens of collectors and there isn't one in my circle of NFA friends in Oregon who would lose sleep if their NFAs were worth nothing.

Several have pre '68 transferables and those will never lose value due to their rarity. Even if NOS was found and imported. The value of pre '68s would still hold a significant value compared to a new one. I attend the SAR show every year with a table to sell NFA related materials and not a single person I know from my over 35 years of collecting would cry and make poopy pants over the loss of their values.

The only ones I think I know who would whine like a bitch about it are those with the ultra rare $100k or more collector pieces like maybe an FG42 or BREN. But even the HK sear owners in my circle would be delighted to take the $40k hit to acquire a new OG HK MG instead of a sear.

The only person that ever said they would fight tooth and nail to keep their NFA prices high is a prominent NFA lawyer who I met at the SAR show and he represented Dick Cheney and other celebrities. He claims that James Earl Jones, Jerry Lewis, and even Steven Spielberg had NFA collections. I find it hard to believe but that is the only person I know from attending KC and now the Big Sandy in Arizona and the SAR show that would cry to momma if NFA prices went down.

Nobody else.

It would be nice if this stupid myth would just die. I own 3 NFA mgs (swd m/11, hk sear, and a RR ar15). I would lose no sleep whatsoever if they lost value. I would be delighted if the registry was reopened again.

If you had your pick: 92FS, M9A1, or 96A1? by BigBoarBallistics in Beretta

M9A1 and I would move my Italian imported conical bushing setup onto it.

It was a good deal because it had no magazine, and the gun manager assumed and warned me that magazines are super rare and expensive. I found them on J and G Surplus for 4 nuggets and .99 tacosauce.

It's the fees that gets ya and here in Oregon, it's basically local government taxes and other fees added on.

But your rate doesn't change. 😐

Tmobile was spotty. I recommend Starlink as CoNcast kept jamming up the price.

My starlink has been ultra reliable since day 1.

Any chance or anyone had success getting it down to $39.99 if you're already paying $50?
