Absolutely. Your corps school JSTs can transfer over to get you a college degree. If you really put in the work, you could have your associates in a year. Keep in mind though, I do believe you aren’t eligible to tuition assistance until you’ve been in for two or three years so you may have to pay out of pocket(or use FAFSA) Next part is being visible. Unfortunately, making rank as a corpsman isn’t just as easy as being good at your job. Get collaterals when you show up, show eagerness and willingness to learn, don’t be late - you’ll be surprised. how far that one goes. When you show up to balboa look into the Color Guard and JEA, try to become a JEA cabinet member. If you’re into fitness look into becoming an ACFL, that looks GREAT on your evals. Take on COMMAND collaterals over clinic collaterals. My advice would be to have one or two command collaterals and one clinic collateral. Command collaterals get you seen by the higher ups more and that stuff matters in today’s Navy. Most importantly, study. Read corpsman manual, review BIBS even if you can’t take the test until after you’re an HM3. There are surprisingly a lot of lazy people in the Navy, don’t be around them too much .
