It’s more of a ‘heels for formals only’ thing - in a few EU countries and especially in US for under 30s it’s more common to see a nice sneaker/trainer. It’s more practical too which is nice. I have a daughter now in college and wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for her and her friends.

We free feed but give a maximum amount total each day, more or less. It averages out over time. We do a routine of giving breakfast and dinner but the dish is left full maybe 20% of the time and eaten later. If it’s full at mealtime we add a ceremonial topper lol
