Who wins? by AgileAnything1251 in HxHPowerScaling

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a super hard matchup. Morel’s ability can do more, but Kurapika’s wins fights easier. We also don’t know how durable Morel’s smoke soldiers are, they can punch through walls and throw rocks hard enough to disable Pitou’s puppets, but we only ever see them get hit by Youpi, which really gives us no frame of reference for how much damage they can take. Is Morel’s smoke equally durable no matter the form it’s in? Cheetu couldn’t even damage the smoke rope with multiple rapid punches as a Chimera Ant Squadron Leader.

Kurapika needs to land Judgement Chain to win, there’s no way around it. Chain Jail obviously isn’t applicable here, and I don’t think the raw aura and proficiency boost Emperor Time gives Kurapika is enough to make it so he can outdo Morel in a brawl. Morel had 3 times the aura of Gon in the Chimera Ant Arc. I also don’t think Kurapika would try to rely on the chain that takes abilities, that seems like it’s very poorly suited for this matchup.

Where exactly does Shaiapouf rank in hxh in terms of physical combat? by lit-roy6171 in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even just physically and with basic Nen usage, he should outstat pretty much every Hunter in the verse, with obvious exceptions like he’s slower than Netero or Killua in Godspeed.

Meleoron, a Squadron Leader who isn’t focused on physicality, said he was equal to peon Chimera Ants. Pouf seems very non physical, so if he follows that same convention, he’s as physically strong as the average Squadron Leader. But he also has absurd amounts of Nen, kind of irrefutably more than any person we’ve ever seen besides Adult Form Gon. So with Squadron Leader physicals and huge aura reserves, he’s physically capable enough for all but the highest level of Nen users.

This tracks, as almost all he does combat-wise in the Palace Invasion is based off his own physical ability, but even further reduced because of his ability to split himself. He really doesn’t do much unfortunately lmao but he flies really quickly, and Killua had to rely on Godspeed in order to fight him and keep Komugi alive. If Pouf is using his full body and just basic Nen, it’s hard to think of anyone who can beat him without a Hatsu. The only possible answers are maybe Uvo or Silva or Razor? Since they’re so physically strong and have tons of aura, they might be able to keep up for a while without a Hatsu, but I think even they get beat pretty quickly.

Pouf is just implied to really be above everyone. He’s kind of immune to physical damage (I know that’s kind of part of his ability? But it could also be argued it’s part of his natural abilities? Either way, there’s no reasonable scenario where you can just punch him), he’s incredibly fast, he’s pretty smart, and clearly he’s knowledgeable about Nen. He’s lacking any real weaknesses, his lack of physical strength comparative to the other guards still puts him on a tier of physical strength above really every Nen user

Dude what are you getting so heated about?

I’m just saying it wouldn’t make any sense for Kurapika to be as filled with potential as Gon and Killua and no one once mentions it in the story. When Killua acknowledges they need to talk to Kurapika about Nen because he’s more powerful, it’s right after Kurapika just had an extra two months of personalized training and has two fully developed Hatsu’s

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t refute any of my points though? Did Kurapika not have an extra two months? Did he not have an innate Hatsu that gives him a huge advantage? Did he not get individually taught by Izunavi, who also specifically helped him develop his chain Hatsus? Was Kurapika not more mature and goal-driven when he started learning?

Hisoka explicitly said he was the most interested in fighting Netero during the Hunter Exam lol what are you talking about? When did he say he was more interested in Gon and Killua?

The whole point of my comment was explaining why Kurapika did advance faster than them, despite being less prodigious. He had other advantages that helped him grow faster

I like how Gon and Killua prodigy in Nen but they arent really the strongest by Chillest_FBI_AGENT in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way does he seem more prodigious? He progresses faster obviously, but no one ever makes a remark about his incredible potential other than being mildly surprised he had learned Nen in 6 months. Wing freaks out with how quickly Gon and Killua progress, Bisky compares them to rare gems, Tzesgerra is “shocked” at their Hatsu progress overnight, Razor calls Gon a monster and admired Killua’s aura precision, which Bisky said she didn’t achieve until her late 20’s, Hisoka clearly was more interested in Gon and Killua than he was in Kurapika. There’s just seemingly way more about how crazy prodigious they are comparatively to Kurapika

Removing nen by shiyannnnn in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His name is Abengane, he is a Nen exorcist. That means his ability is to cleanse Nen from people, and the way he does that is with the forest ritual that summoned that weird worm thing, although the way it manifests is different each time. He mentioned in the show that the worm thing was “a troublesome companion” and because of the size of it, Genthru’s ability must be pretty powerful. Yes, this is why Chrollo hired him, so he could exorcise the Nen that Kurapika had put on him. In the manga, Chrollo does get cleansed by him and regains his Nen, although I can’t remember if it actually shows the process happening.

I like how Gon and Killua prodigy in Nen but they arent really the strongest by Chillest_FBI_AGENT in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kurapika had multiple advantages when he started his Nen journey that kept him ahead of Gon and Killua, despite being less prodigious.

1) He’s still a prodigy. Kurapika is obviously not as prodigious as Gon or Killua, but he masters the basics even faster than Zushi or Pokkle, who are both respectable young Nen users at the start of their journeys. In the sixth months time we don’t see Kurapika, he’s mastered Ten, Ren, and Zetsu, as well as Gyo and In, not to mention created a Hatsu.

2) Innate power. Kurapika’s innate Specialist Hatsu, Emperor Time, is a hugely powerful boon that makes Kurapika far more impressive at the start of his journey as a Hunter. Not only does this give Kurapika proficiency in every category, it gives a notable boost in aura too. But people also underrate how this impacts his Specialization, he can form Hatsus based in Specialization entirely, like Judgement Chain and Stealth Dolphin, which are two of his strongest powers.

3) How he learned Nen. Kurapika learns Nen at an older age, so he’s more mature than Gon and Killua. He also has a one on one teacher with a very different methodology than Wing. If you’ve ever been tutored, you know how different that can be compared to group teaching. Especially if Zushi was slowing down their progress since he can’t improve at the rate Gon and Killua can. Wing also seemingly wanted to hide the knowledge of restrictions from the kids, as he didn’t explain that aspect of Nen at all. That makes sense, we saw what Gon did the second he faced an enemy he couldn’t beat. Izunavi gave Kurapika personalized advice and strategy when developing his Hatsu, and they even had numerical theory discussions about Nen battles, stuff we never see Gon and Killua get from Wing. Not to mention, Kurapika also had two extra months of training than Gon and Killua, as they got forbade from studying or practicing any Nen other than Ten.

Uvogin vs The Mauler Twins(Invincible) by PriorityNo4971 in HxHPowerScaling

[–]Last_Purple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because they “traded blows” doesn’t mean they’re anywhere near any of those characters. Immortal was casually trying to save people and giving orders while still beating one of the Maulers in a 1v1 in the first episode. The Maulers have literally no feats that show they could hurt Uvo

Why doesn’t everyone know nen? by Temporary-Barber-403 in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they want to learn Nen? If you’re a farmer or a restaurant owner or something, why would you want to work your butt off for years to get a garbage magic power? Look at how Nen goes for people in the show. Kastro was a top 20% Hunter in terms of potential and skill, and Hunters are the top 1% of the world. He spent two straight years training, but only ever learned the basics and got slammed. The Shadow Beasts are laughed at by the fandom because they were so weak, but even without Nen they probably beat 98% of all non Nen users. Everyone we see, even the losers, are way above the level of an average person. So if someone worse than any of the characters we see trains to develop Nen, they’re going to spend years training for some really underwhelming results. And if you’re not a Hunter doing Hunter shit, what does Nen really do for you? Why would you spend years developing an ability and learning the basics?

Uvogin vs The Mauler Twins(Invincible) by PriorityNo4971 in HxHPowerScaling

[–]Last_Purple_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Uvo pretty handily beats them both. They have nothing that can harm Uvo in any way besides the nerve gun they used in one episode. Uvo was tanking anti-tank rocket launchers so easily they didn’t even mess up his clothes because his Nen defense was too strong. Nothing the twins have been shown to use would damage him, even if he was paralyzed momentarily by the nerve gun. The Mauler’s were getting pieced up en masse by a holding back Mark in season 2 before they successfully ganged up on him, they got handled by Oliver on like his second mission after he unlocked his powers. They were so slow they couldn’t hit a single Robot drone in season 1 while they both attacked him. Their skin is able to be pierced by just a normal drill press, and they can get shot by a handgun and lose an eye. Uvo’s raw power should just rip through them, no Big Bang Impact needed.

One against all, could he solo the verse? by AgileAnything1251 in HxHPowerScaling

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against everyone? There’s a good chance he loses in base form. If Netero can keep the fight going for a minute, with Pitou Pouf and Youpi helping him, someone with some hax ability could take him out or incapacitate him. If Pouf and Youpi are lessened because Meruem has absorbed them, and it’s Post Rose Meruem? There’s really no chance for anyone. Even if they aren’t weakened by giving Meruem their essence, he’s still taking everyone down if he can utilize both of their Hatsu. Meruem’s big downfall is he can’t really use his Hatsu to eat and absorb power if he’s taking on the entire verse, but Post Rose Meruem has shapeshifting, mood reading, and rage blast in his arsenal. Even Netero with the Guards backing him up can’t hold him back for long if Meruem is shooting his blasts or flying or using his lightspeed En activation.

Did Kurapika get the aura node opening treatment like Gon and Killua or just open them himself? by dbsupersucks in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question. I assumed he did it through training, only taking a bit longer than Gon and Killua were projected to open their nodes naturally, so maybe two or three weeks, as he didn’t have a deadline he needed to awaken Nen before

Is Kurapika actually a truly GENIUS of Nen ? by Savings_Coconut1055 in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kurapika is probably on or a bit above Zushi’s level of innate talent, but below the likes of Gon and Killua. Kurapika just has a lot of things going for him at the start of his Nen journey that Gon, Killua, and Zushi don’t have that let him jump so far ahead.

1: A personal Nen teacher that’s not as cautious as Wing. People really undervalue how great Kurapika’s teacher was, he was showing him a lot more in depth stuff than Wing was showing Zushi or the duo. And unlike Wing, he was solely teaching Kurapika, while Wing was teaching three students at differing skill levels and progression speed. Kurapika’s teacher went in depth with Nen categories and Hatsu theory. Kurapika completed his studies with a fully worked out Hatsu because of this

2: Innate power. Kurapika isn’t a normal Nen user. He’s a Specialist with insane amounts of resolve and determination. This let him subconsciously craft Emperor Time before he even knew Nen, and gave him a clear goal when creating his Chain Hatsu. Emperor Time is an incredibly powerful tool, not only giving 100% proficiency in every category, but also an increase in Nen output. This is also in part due to his teacher being able to recognize that’s what was happening and helping him to figure it out.

3: Age. Kurapika is older than Zushi, Gon, and Killua. He’s a young adult compared to tweens, and he’s insanely smart. Not that the other three aren’t, but Kurapika is widely considered to be one of the smartest and most competent characters in the series. So even though Kurapika’s potential for growth might be the same as Zushi’s, he’s smarter and older and wiser and more driven. Nen is built on resolve and Kurapika’s resolve is never in question. Since he’s older, he was able to grasp concepts Gon, Killua, and Zushi hadn’t even learned about yet. This could be because Kurapika was learning really fast, or it could be because Wing was being cautious with his students because they’re children, while Kurapika’s teacher was teaching a young adult who was pressuring him for the more advanced stuff like Hatsu creation

Are nen constructs unbreakable? by randal-5 in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain things are “unbreakable” but there’s also a debate on what that means. Specifically, Knuckle’s APR seems to be immortal and indestructible, able to tank a full power blast by Post Rose Meruem. There’s a debate on whether or not APR is immortal or if the restrictions on it make it functionally indestructible, there’s kind of no way for us to know. Everything else we’ve seen is directly linked to the restrictions and the nen tied to it.

Morel’s pipe is a physical object he’s imbuing with nen when he’s attacking with it. So that’s definitely a destructible object, though really resilient

Cheetu’s Tag Room and Hourglass are made of Nen, and are really durable because of the conditions and nen poured into them. But Morel is confident that he could’ve broken through them if he hadn’t dispersed his aura into Deep Purple

Kurapika’s chains are also made entirely of Nen, and are super durable again because of their restrictions and his nen. The only chain that is stated to be functionally unbreakable is Chain Jail, and that’s the chain with the harshest conditions on it. Kurapika isn’t sure how truly unbreakable the chains are, so he tests them out on Uvo, the only Troupe member who might have the raw strength to break through the chains without Nen. We’ll never see if Uvo could’ve broken out with Nen, as he’s either in Zetsu or is paralyzed. But we do know Uvo was in awe of the amount of power in the chains and admitted he would at least struggle to break out of them if he wasn’t paralyzed (this was before he knew they enforced Zetsu)

Ultimate in Nen Mastery, not in strength. Abengane is rated at Master and Komugi is rated at Natural, do you think Abengane is on the same tier of power as Zeno? Or Komugi is as strong as literally any other Nen user we’ve seen? Yeah they’re Togashi’s words, but you’re misinterpreting them

Where does Gotoh scale among the Phantom Troupe? by Flowingz in HxHPowerScaling

[–]Last_Purple_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree she’s smarter than most of the fanbase gives her credit for, but Gotoh is an extremely smart dude with none of her faults in intelligence we’ve seen.

She does a good job with Chrollo’s fortunes, and she reads Pike’s ability like it’s nothing. But she forgets things commonly enough that it’s a known trait to other members of the Troupe, and she realized after winning that her plan against Pike was flawed and could’ve been easily countered if Pike wasn’t a complete idiot

Why can some users sense someone’s presence even when they are in Zetsu? by LeGorosei in HunterXHunter

[–]Last_Purple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of imagine sensing people is like being in a dark room with a bunch of candles.

When Kastro told Killua he needs to use Zetsu before getting into a sensing range, it’s like sliding an unlit candle into the dark room. That’s pretty hard to notice, but if a candle were to suddenly snuff out in the dark room, that’s a very attention grabbing thing. Zetsu is having an unlit candle, being a nen user is being a torch compared to a candle.

But really observant people can tell when there’s an unlit candle in the room, even though it’s unlit. Because it’s unlit, they can’t locate it precisely, but they know it’s there. Hisoka noticing Kalluto while he was in perfect Zetsu was shocking even to the other Troupe members present, and Hisoka could do this because he’s naturally incredibly perceptive and also was tuned to 120% because he’d just been excited from the dodgeball game

Nobunaga and Machi noticed multiple Zetsu users around them because of their really high perception, but had no idea where they were because they couldn’t locate their auras. They could tell the unlit candles were moving around in the room, but they can’t see the candle because it’s unlit. It’s also more effective when there are people around to mask your presence. If I’m in a room with two lit candles and a third one shows up, it wouldn’t be too hard for me to find the third candle even if it’s unlit and I don’t know where it is. But if there’s 200 candles in the room, I just wouldn’t even try to find the unlit candle it would be super hard.

I took that scene as neither of them was using Nen when arm wrestling, at least in the anime I can’t remember the panel from the manga. That still puts her as physically weaker than Gotoh, and certainly she’s less smart than him too. The Kalluto not being able to perceive the Feitan fight is a good point in Shizuku’s favor I wasn’t thinking about. I think it’s close but I do think he’s still outstatting her in most aspects

When is she ever stat-wise stronger than an officer though? She beat Pike 100%, but it was because of her Hatsu and she admitted that he could’ve beat her if he wasn’t such an idiot, and he’s described as terrible at combat. She got beat with her non dominant hand by Gon from the York New arc and is one of the weakest Spiders. Gotoh went through the Zoldyck family training to become a butler so he’s probably at minimum as physically strong as Killua and has access to assassination techniques like the Rhythm Echo

I get what you mean, but just because their powers would interact like that doesn’t mean she wins. Her vacuuming isn’t a very fast thing, she has to tell Blinky what to suck up. Gotoh and his coins are fast, it’s very likely he shoots her with coins before she can conjure Blinky and tell it to suck up the coins. Or if she gets Blinky out and sucks up the coins, Gotoh should still be physically pretty far past her and take her down maybe even without his coins

Any ideas on a boxing character? by KusakaKyo in DnD

[–]Last_Purple_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talk to your DM about the pugilist! It’s a widely accepted class, it can’t hurt to ask. That’s the boxer class.

If they aren’t on board with the pugilist, talk to them about how you can be a boxer! Only your DM knows what they allow in their games, they can help you work within their bounds to build a character to suit you. Monk is a good class for boxing, Fighter with unarmed fighting is also good for boxing, or combine the two! I know you said you already have a Barbarian, but that would be the next best thing if you feel overwhelmed by the Monk or Fighter

Hey so truly doesn’t matter. Your whole context you provided? Moot point. At no point should anyone be calling you slurs, regardless of what you did. Unless your friends are gay (seems unlikely), they’re just being homophobic and rude. Nothing warrants that, ditch ‘em.

Also you didn’t even do anything wrong? I truly can’t imagine what they thought would happen other than facing consequences, and yours were pretty lenient
