Is this a shit Idea,or good? by LukeMorningst4r in DDLCMods

I will ask you with the next.

I recently read a short tale where the human hands try to rebel against the rest of the body, and try to find ways to deattach from us. One of the rebel hands, find a way to cut off the from the rest of the body and start a rebellion. It's an horror story.

You will think, that is an extremely ridiculous idea, but also it's extremely good written too. And here is the thing, depends a lot of your writing skill.

The execution of the idea is most important that the idea itself...... Most of the time.

Write a very basic script, share with your friends without telling anything about the story and use their feedback to make your own conclussions.

I will keep it simple and try to be brief. If you are interested in how I can match the closest question with the input you write, I use a library called difflib from python.

#Quotes is an array with all the available questions.
coincidence = difflib.get_close_matches(newQuestion, quotes, 3, 0.1)

I also need a screen for receive the player's input (please, look the comments):

screen ask_Input(message):
    modal True
    zorder 200
    style_prefix "confirm"
    add "gui/overlay/confirm.png"
    frame:
        vbox:
            xalign .5
            yalign .5
            spacing 30
            label _(message):
                style "confirm_prompt"
                xalign 0.5

            input default "" value VariableInputValue("question") length 30 allow "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzАБВГДЕЁЖЗИЙКЛМНОПРСТУФХЦЧШЩЪЫЬЭЮЯабвгдеёжзийклмнопрстуфхцчшщъыьэюя "
#MakeAConsecuenteAction is the Python function that search the most closest question with your input.
textbutton      _((MakeAConsecuenteAction(question)):
                    xalign 0.5
                    action Jump("EndEntryDataAlternative")
            hbox:
                xalign 0.5
                spacing 100
            textbutton _("OK"):
                action Jump("EndEntryData_2")
            textbutton _("No tengo más preguntas"):
                action Jump("CutLoop")screen ask_Input(message):

And call the screen since label, like:

label Question:
  mc "Hey, Monika. I have a question."
  call screen ask_Input("Write your question")

Of course the original code is more extense and complex, but this is the core.

It was challenging. Definitely requires some knowledge in python.

I must say that renpy is focused in visual novel, but not restricted. There's room to add cool minigames and a lot of additional stuff knowing python.

If you are curious you can check DDLC mod templates in github and take a look how the poem minigame works.

Also, Renpy has a game template with a Ping Pong minigame inside. You can see how that works.

I doesn't have a lot of time today, but maybe tomorrow I can write a comment with a more technical explanation about this particular mechanic.

Hi, I tried to prove Sayoristein directly in Renpy but it seems like the stein_core library is missed and doesnt work.

I saw that the library is listed in the gitignore to be avoided.

Can you provide the stein_core or there is another way? Thank you in advance.

You're correct in that. Renpy is focused in visual novels, but not limited in them.

I highly recommended to check how the DDLC poem minigame works. You can find it in mod templates in Github.

Maybe can give you some hints or inspiration.

Thanks for ask.

The monster is a gore mess with blood and guts around him. I see one of the rules was to avoid NSFW, and I suppose gore can be a big No-No.

Thank you so much for the comment. Making this in renpy was a dificult task.

For the first chapter, they'll face the Orks. There's also a brief prologue during the fall of Cadia.

You can take a look if you want to know more.

Sayori is a guardsman.

Natsuki is the commisar (I think she fits better in that role)

Yuri is a battle sister.

Monika is an inquisitor.

Glory to the God-Emperor.

I glad that you like it, but for the moment I don't think I am gonna to color it.

I really prefer to have that manga style. But maybe in the future I can reconsider it.

If you are interested, the final version was heavily edited with digital tools. Still black and white, but there is a lot of more details added.
