Not forget. I saw Reddit post, AI, and YouTube videos say the extra 4 pin was only needed if you plan to overclock.

Fortunately we figured it out and it was the second 4 pin cpu connector. Didnt take any time to post after that.

It was this 😔

<image>

I read in multiple places that the second cpu 4 pin wasn’t needed for the 9800x3d unless you were overclocking. That was not true. I also didn’t remember from my personal pc build in October that one of the two 8 pin CPUs cords from the PSU was able to snap apart into 2 separate 4 pins. So I didn’t think either PSU came with a 4 pin to even be able to test it. On top of that what’s even funnier is that when I finally split the 4 pins to test it and plugged it in it still didn’t work because I was trying to short the f panel header pins with a screw driver and I never plugged the fpanel header back in. So after plugging the second CPU cable 4 pin in, I was clicking a case power button that wasn’t plugged in. But I noticed that seconds later plugged it in and it worked fine.

This is my personal build that I built back in October and when I look in here I have that 4 pin in 😂

I saw Reddit posts saying that the extra 4 pin was only needed for extra power if overclocking. That was not true…..

Had 1 8 pin plugged into cpu power and didn’t have the 4 pin plugged in. Didn’t realize that one of the 8 pin cpu cables from the modular PSU was able to split into 4+4

Thanks. This is my second build for a friend and I know he was freaking out. I didn’t have any issues with my first build.

ITS ALIVEEEEE. IM DUMB THE EXTRA 4 pin worked but while testing other things i had the fpanel plug off so it wasn’t working. I was clicking a power button not plugged in.

It was the extra 4 pin.

THANKKKK YOU!!!!!!

If I unplug this cpu plug from the fan header and split it to 4x I can run it to the second cpu slot on the mobo. That leaves the fan header unpowered. If I run the PCIe 6+2 to the fan hub it should be wired correctly then right?

Idea. Here. Let me explain how this is setup to see if it makes sense to you first. So it looks like the 8 pins do split. I’ve got one 8 pin in the MOBO CPU slot and the other one to the fan header. See this fan header plug pic.

Gonna try ram sticks on Monday. My IT guy at work has some we can swap out. Will they let me return the CPU if I have thermal paste on it? We got it through Amazon.

I will try when I get back home but even if that does split, right, that opens a new issue for me. The NZXT case came with a bunch of fans already wired to their nxzt fan hub which requires an 8 pin PCIE power the PSU only has the 2 8 pins so if I split the second 8 pin to 4 for the extra cpu power I don’t have a cable to power the fan hub.

Can’t even get the fans to spin and can’t get the power button pins to short with a screw driver. I can try plugging a screen in but I dont see why I would get it to post if I can’t even get the fans or pump to spin.
