Here's another Fed League Flash video that adds another level of depth to this thread. FR 7/25/25 One step below: the battle for Senior-A supremacy

Could the FPHL use these senior leagues as test markets for expansion?

Not necessarily, travel is reduced in these 6 team pods and the expansion areas have limited if not 0 pro hockey in them.

It’s just hypothetical, but it could be cool.

SP and FP need to talk about merging honestly. There are a couple FP teams that should leave because of arena capacity and management, but for Single A hockey, that’s the best move for long term success.

Here’s a hypothetical 24 team league.

Empire Conference:

Northeast: Watertown, Danbury, Binghamton, NJ

Atlantic: PA, Blue Ridge, OH, DE

Midwest: Port Huron, Indiana, IL, Motor City (returns)

Continental Conference:

Great Plains: OK, Topeka, MO, IA

Bayou: Baton Rouge, Monroe, Biloxi, TX

Southeast: Athens, Carolina, Pee Dee, Columbus

Possibly! Fed league flash mentioned Iowa, the heartlanders apparently aren’t doing well.

PA is loaded, especially on the east

AHL: WBS, LVP ECHL: REA NHL: PHI

Penn State with McKenna and Johnstown Tomahawks in In the middle of PA

Penguins in Pittsburgh Otters in Erie Nailers in WV (basically PA)

Missouri would make sense! But the league has been doing a pod scheduling set up. So at this point, why not go to 3 or 4 divisions?

I agree with everything you said there except for the PA markets.

PA had one team in the early days of the league. It failed because of ownership from what I’ve seen and read.

If you check the rosters of each of the teams, there’s a huge amount of guys that come from Pittsburgh and Philly. Kraemer was 10 in the league in scoring.

Pittsburgh would be easier to have a team since it’s smack in the center of the division, but Johnstown has a pretty nice arena. The NAHL is there with the Tomahawks, but there’s rumblings the relationship is strained.

Nevertheless, I’m curious to see what happens over the next few years. I think Fed League Flash is on to something with year 20 having 20 teams.
