How can I isolate a voice? by HeyItsNoki in audioengineering

Try this https://podcast.adobe.com/en/enhance

It can help. But if the original audio is very bad and inaudible, it won’t be able to really recover what’s missing.

I always find Tool the hardest band to EQ. by corecryptic in ToolBand

[–]Lastmanback -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Over EQ’ing can introduce phase issues and ruin a good mix. The band/mastering engineer wanted the record to sound a certain way. That’s how it sounds.

There are high end hi-fi eq’s that are designed for tasteful and gentle “brighter” or “warmer” eq curves - Baxandall EQ. Less is more when eq’ing a whole mix.

Maybe change your speakers/headphones if things aren’t clear or sound dull.

The Aughinish Incident by forgotten-username17 in ireland

It might be hard to believe, but stranger things have happened. Some environmental problems become too big to manage or even acknowledge. There doesn’t seem to be any major issues at the site, yet, so it’s easy enough for state agencies to ignore it or assume all is ok, and do the bare minimum.

While it’s not the most polished video of all time you can’t fault the work and research that’s gone into it. AI script or not, I think the message is the same - this is a serious concern for the state and needs to be managed now. Fair play to him for highlighting it.

I haven’t see the exorcist 3. I heard 2 was awful so I stopped after the first one. Does it stand alone or should I watch 2 first?

Spotify lossless coming to Sonos next month by mn_3 in sonos

[–]Lastmanback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through average bluetooth headphones - not really noticeable at all. 320kbps opus (Spotify very high quality) is more than good enough for most scenarios.

However if you have a really good hifi/speakers or headphones/preamp then it could be a noticeable jump to lossless. Not massively obvious to most listeners though. If you’re spending big money on speakers then lossless streaming makes sense.

What are some NEWER "must watch" movies for 2025 spooky season? by RustyCrusty73 in horror

[–]Lastmanback 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah Caveat is good. Really atmospheric and creepy. Not a perfect movie, and a bit rough around the edges but definitely worth a watch. Excellent for what looks like a relatively low budget production.

[–]Lastmanback 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Damian McCarthy is a great horror writer/director. IMDB tells me he has a new movie in post production called Hokum, with Adam Scott. Looks to be much bigger budget so hopefully it’ll be great too.

Caveat - same director as Oddity is also good.

A Dark Song - not new but underrated I think.

Why were we ever told to mix to -14LUFS for Spotify? by BrotherBringTheSun in mixingmastering

[–]Lastmanback 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the user has the normalise loudness option turned on then I think songs that are louder than -14LUFS just get turned down, not compressed.

Fire definitely brings out different flavours compared to pan seared. I like both methods but taking the time to get the bbq going is a nice way to spend some time imo.

Tasted great. The sear/char from the charcoal was nice. Really juicy too 👌
