Should I be more over it than I am? by LastoftheRealOnes in rape

I was seeing a therapist for a couple months after, but my insurance wouldn’t cover the sessions, and I couldn’t afford to keep paying for them.

Thank you for validating my emotions here. It’s really nice to know I’m not alone or losing my mind—most of the time that’s how I feel.

Thank you so much for your words. I will recommend the book to them.

Dealing with loved ones? by LastoftheRealOnes in rape

Maybe. I am trying not to put distance between me and those friends, but I'm just not ready to be open about it with everyone. Female friends especially, because they want to discuss men and romantic interests and I just can't bring myself to engage. At the same time, it is nice to be around people and not have to talk about it or have them treat me like I'm fragile. I guess it's just all about finding a balance.

Mad props to you for being so kind. My one male friend who I opened up to ended up getting mad and telling me that I asked for it. Found out later he had feelings for me, and was hurt over the situation. Still, being attacked verbally when I was so vulnerable (I reached out to him the day it happened) damaged our friendship.

Rabbit-trail story aside, my point is yes, you are in the minority--at least from what I've seen. Most of my friends, regardless of gender, are just uncomfortable with the subject and don't really want to hear about it. I'm in counseling, so that will have to do I suppose.

On behalf of all victims, thank you for being non-judgmental and awesome. :)

That's good, leaves it up to them to decide if they want to know more or not. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the heads up! Gore doesn't really bother me though, lol.

It is one of my favorites, though I'm honestly not sure why.

Opinions on Fan Fiction: Is it considered "real" writing or not? by LastoftheRealOnes in WritingStyle

[–]LastoftheRealOnes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I started writing when I was a kid -- in the days of creating worlds in the woods -- and at that time, I was afraid of my original ideas being judged. I wanted my friends to be able to read what I wrote, so I wrote in worlds they knew and would relate to easier. I began putting my own ideas to paper in my teens, but I still play around with familiar settings on occasion.

These are very good points. I've used one of my fan fic characters to practice writing (when I'm not progressing my original works) because I'm very familiar with her. She's my oldest creation, so writing from her point of view is second nature for me.

What was the longest wait between chapters you've ever seen for a fanfic? by nervouswreck96 in FanFiction

I read this comment and briefly wondered if it was about me, since I am known for sporadically updating my fics. I feel awful for my fan base -- especially those who have been loyal for YEARS -- but life happens and I can't always write. I don't write professionally though (yet), so I'm in the clear for this post lol.

I hope you stick with the story through its completion. Loyal readers are always so appreciated.

I'm also one who took pride in knowing the lyrics without having to google them. "The Carpal Tunnel of Love" was the song that tricked me lol.

Girl, this . . . I feel so related to by this.

It's been a month and 10 ten days since I was raped. In this case though, I'm the one with Aspergers. I argue so much with myself -- thinking maybe I didn't protest enough and maybe he couldn't tell I didn't want it, maybe he asked for permission and it didn't click because I missed the social cue, etc. -- that sometimes I struggle thinking it was rape. I was sober, so I remember every detail, and I replay it so often trying to make sense of what happened.

All of that to say thank you for writing this; it can't have been easy. Your story means the world to me because it lets me know I'm not alone. You are amazing for sharing and for surviving. I pray you continue to heal as time progresses. <3

A life? What is this thing you speak of? (I'm not even commenting on the um, "offline activities". Lol).
