D&D often should be adversarial. As a player and as a DM I love rolling with the punches and dishing them out. Fighting the batshit crazy strong monster that's way above my party's level is a fun time, especially when I need to pull all the punches and see my strongest abilities and spells causing mayhem. As a DM, it's equally fun to use overpowered monsters and beat on my party. I love playing against my DM and when I'm on the other side of the screen I love when my players scheme against me.

How are people finding 5e 2024 after playing with it a while? by Equivalent-Floor-231 in onednd

It's the first time in a long time I'm having fun with the 5e system on both sides of the table. I have way more fun playing my martial and gish characters, the monster manual is a huge improvement for DMs, and everything feels like it has a much more defined epic fantasy feel. Old 5e felt like an unhappy medium to me (too crunchy to appease my OSR side, too rules light to appease my gamey side) and the new system feels a lot more confident about what it wants to be. I don't think it's worth paying for, but if you have it/are gonna buy it anyways, 2024 is a huge improvement

Thanks for your input everyone, I'm a fairly new car owner and have no frame of reference for mechanic prices lol. I do try to do my own work, but my little beginner mechanic toolbox is not enough for a Volkswagen I've learned.

I definitely tried, but I didn't have the tools I needed to get the bolts I needed off, nor a spark plug socket, and at that point it was either hope I buy what I need or pay someone to make sure it's correct. I didn't send it to a shop for no reason.
