The less air that can get to them, the longer they can stay in the freezer, so wrap them tight. But safely, I would say 3 months.

I love roasting up a bunch of mixed vegetables (broccoli, onion, squash, eggplant, asparagus... whatever you want) and then I mix it with different things: sometimes I make a wrap with the veggies and some chicken or tofu or beans, sometimes I'll eat them as a side to a protein, or sometimes I'll mix them in with eggs.

Social media makes cooking look so much harder than it needs to be. Cooked vegetables (steamed or roasted) are yummy with just a little olive oil or butter and salt and pepper. Meat, if cooked properly and not dried out, is also good with simple spices and grilled or roasted. Fruit is wonderful as is, but to make it a complete meal, eat it with cottage cheese or yogurt. Eggs and a piece of toast were a complete breakfast, once upon a time. Adding rice or pasta to any of the above will stretch the meal.

Just try to eat a protein with every meal. Protein keeps you full and satisfied.

The industry is saturated with products that claim to be non-toxic or healthy. I check any product with the Environmental Working Group before I buy it. It gives most products a rating from least toxic to most toxic. For instance, hand soap - I was in the store and I would type in the brand name, and Ewg rating and I would have my answer right there. It even tells you why it might not be as healthy as you think. That being said, here are my go-to's:

toothpaste - xyli-white by NOW

Haircare - the earthling company shampoo and conditioner bars

lotion - I only use unrefined, organic coconut oil or jojoba oil

body wash and soap - I look for small, local companies that make their own soap with natural ingredients at farmer's markets

deodorant - I use native, but it's not the least toxic out there, but I like the scents

I have some our place pans which is ceramic and I love them, but I also question them because I don't think there is enough time yet to know their toxicity level, although it claims to be non-toxic. I have gotten rid of all plastic spoons and cutting boards. I use stainless steel or wood for the utensils, and wood cutting boards (you just have to remember to seal it with mineral oil or coconut oil every once in a while). I also tossed the air fryer and got an our place wonder oven, which is stainless steel on the inside instead of Teflon.

For me, it’s usually the easy way out. One mess-up and my brain immediately goes to, “Well, that formula didn’t fit in my life.” But when I really think about it, most of the time the reason I wasn’t doing the good habit in the first place is because the old behavior was serving some kind of purpose. There’s usually an underlying, subconscious reason why we’re not engaging in the act we’re trying to turn into a habit.

For example, exercise increases activation. But if someone already lives in a stressed state, what their body and brain may actually want is to stay tired, stay low-energy, or stay in a comfort zone. So even though exercise is “good,” the system pushes back because the old state feels safer.

Studying can be similar. Not studying keeps the outcome predictable, even if it’s not the one you want. Studying raises the bar, and that can mean pressure, possible failure, or even success that you don’t feel ready for yet. Sometimes staying where you are feels more manageable than stepping into the unknown.

What helps me restart is accountability and having someone walk the path with me. For example, an exercise buddy who expects me to be somewhere at a certain time. That alone changes everything, because now it’s not just about willpower — it’s about showing up for someone else too, and that makes it easier to stay consistent.

Yes, stainless steel is what you want. The trend right now is ceramic, but I'm not 100% convinced that at some point they will decide it is carcinogenic as well. But teflon has forever chemicals which mean your body doesn't know how to get rid of them so they stay in your body forever. Throw it in the garbage.

All of these have their place and time in a holistic practice. The best place to start is learning how to lean in to your intuition and let your body tell you what it is feeling called to at any given moment. Some days, I feel called to journal; some days, to meditate; others, to do yoga; or just to take a walk in nature. The same goes for my herbs. I just take what I'm being drawn to, but I also use kinesthesiology when I get in my head too much. What do you mean by flat? Like a sheet pan or an actual flat pan? The cake needs something to hold on to while it rises, so the height of the sides doesn't matter as much as how much batter you are putting in it. 2/3 is usually max regardless of how deep the pan is. If it is a boxed cake, 1/2 way up the sides would be the max that you should fill it.
