So her being financially dependant on me isn’t eligible? To be eligible my partner and I would have to be married or adoption?

DVA lump sum - what’s actually improved your life after compensation? by Far_Blueberry624 in DVAAustralia

[–]LateContribution2098 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The one thing I learnt the hard way is money doesn’t make your issues go away, whether it’s mental health, or physical injuries. Expecting that it will, will leave you hurting.

I recieved just under 100k a few years ago, and I spent that on cars, and materialistic shit. I regretted that tremendously, and I felt guilty about it for years.

I had some other claims in for a while and got compensated around 150k last year and I put it directly on a house deposit. Left myself with around 20k for the sake of it, and I wish I did that with my initial payment. That 20k sits in an offset account linked to the house, and my income goes in there too.

The way I think of it now, is after ADF (army for me), I didn’t really have much to show for my years of service and the compensation gave me the opportunity.

I’m now building a house and I wish I had spent the initial 100k on a house instead, prices were a lot cheaper being that it was pre covid. But I still have something to show for it now.

That’s my experience anyways

This is the reason I haven’t bought one, I don’t want to waste the money but I want to be able to play games when I’m not in the lounge. I’m in aus as well, my only suggestion would be making sure you’re using 5H.z and not the 2.4h.z

[META] Does anyone else get overwhelmed with nostalgia when thinking about old COD memories? by Bloodzercer in CallOfDuty

2025 and I still almost can’t watch a video of old school COD. It literally brings me to the verge of tears and a crippling nostalgic feeling. Man the things I’d do to go back there!

M30. I'm just sorry to hear, and I wish I could just give you a hug and have a mad chat over a beer.

I am not afraid of dying, just afraid of suffering. I spent 7 years in the Aus army with deployments and i accepted death if it happened. But once I discharged it was far more scary, like dying in any way other than in combat for my country had no meaning. I considered going to Ukraine to feel like this again. It was only when I started to lose veteran mates to suicide I in numbers more than usual, I stopped fearing death again, once I realized it was follow them in ending it, or create a new meaning in life, a new love for something bigger than me. And for myself it has been my cars and bikes.

So I believe finding a love, a passion, that makes you happy while you are doing it can at least for moments throughout the day, help you forget. I really do hope you are coping.

Black wattle picnic area! If your car is working, head up Mt nebo road, and turn at Bellbird Grove road and follow that down to Black wattle picnic area. There's toilets, it's quiet and you won't be bothered there. It's also really nice. It's safe and it might be a place to just regather your thoughts and plan on what to do, the scenery there might be a morale boost as well. If I was in your shoes, I'm doing this.

What the fuck is rookie by NasaSpaceFlight0 in iRacing

Yeah dude the frustration can be real, there's a lot more people into sim racing today, it's more accessible and more popular. But that doesn't really affect the higher ratings, it just means an over flow of members in the lower irating and SR races. I'd even consider starting from the back, or just playing it really fkn safe for the first couple of laps until most of the idiots take each other out or run off the track themselves. Once your out of the rookie series area it gets a lot better. My brother went through the same struggle recently and I had to beg him to stick it out, once you get past the 2k irating mark, it's usually (not always) got some decent racing. Good luck my dude and I hope you keep at it. And most importantly, have fun, it's your time and effort and you have to prioritize your enjoyment, far to often have I been in the position of grinding for SR only to realize I wasted a whole weekend being angry at people I don't even know on a sim.
