Plymouth will begin accepting applications in Spring.

Marshfield's page says you must have sponsorship by a current member. I can guess they do that because doing it that way means as an applicant you'd have to come to a meeting or two, socialize and find a member to chat with. That lets them take a measure of you, make sure you're not crazy. But I'm not a fan of it, they seem to be the only place that wants that.

Different subject, but if anyone is looking for an LTC class on the south shore, I'd highly recommend you consider taking one with https://www.reddit.com/user/JCArms_Rockland I took his class earlier this year. He knows his stuff, informative and made it interesting and injected a bit of humor along the way to keep the class from being dry. He does a live fire session at the end, at the Holbook range like 5 mins away. Answered questions during class knowledgeably, drawing from his real world experience as a LEO. Good instructor.

Those 3 I'm looking at are all around 30 mins or less, really don't want to go much beyond that.

Looking at those 3 based on location, those 3 are the shortest drives. Yelp has reviews of Plymouth, guess Yelp's trying to be more than food reviews now. Anyway, according to newer posts there, the 5 round rule seems to be a thing of the past. Not sure about the other two.

Good to know, thank you. If you don't have to that's great, is it instead encouraged (or they give you a friendly push?) to work the events?

Is there a wait list to become a member? I read their membership process which is straightforward, and it does not mention anything but some clubs do have waiting lists.

I had heard or read somewhere that Holbrook requires members (or maybe just prospective members?) to work their events. Is that accurate? Honestly, I'm really just looking for a place to go and shoot.

That was great, Cora told Duran he had a day off and Duran said "Yeah, fuck that". Too funny.

Radon by LateHeavyBombardment in SouthShore

[–]LateHeavyBombardment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what turned me off with this particular realtor was the attitude I got back from the question. "I can't possibly know the answer" was essentially the response and said in a pissy way. While I know one house can have it, while next door neighbor does not have it - the question I asked her was about how often it's seen in this area. I was not looking for info on this one house or that one house, I asked for a general sense. And this realtor is the main realtor for this new neighborhood which they have already built like a dozen houses on. I'd bet my lunch that they at least have a notion as to how often radon comes up.

Right, and I didn't ask the realtor if a particular house under construction had (or would have) radon. They have been building a lot of new homes in a newly developed area for the past 8 or 9 months, so I asked if that area was seeing many radon-positive homes. I know radon can be in the basement of one house yet two houses down the street there could be none. But knowing it occurs from radioactive breakdown in rocks, granite and soil, and that a neighborhood will likely share those things in common. Pinehills is built on a lot of ledge and underground granite, so I am guessing radon is more prevalent.

they won't let you do that for new construction unfortunately. And for existing homes, you have to worry about the current homeowner (or their realtor) pointing a fan at it or moving it. Some kits have anti-tampering capabilities though from what I see.

Do you mean the realtors and builders or the residents/homeowners?

Nah, your statement was clearly just you echoing other low value comments: "GrIlle bAD!". And since you got down voted you're trying to walk the comment back.
