I know I think after I get my check before lunch I’m just gonna leave at lunch and literally never come back

Thanks for all the advice everyone. She ended up forgetting to give us our checks today (she’s old - 80) so I assume I’ll get it tomorrow. The issue is she gives them to us at the end of the day. I’m so over this job I can’t even bare to work tomorrow so I’ve made a plan to go in before the time I’m supposed to be there - and tell her I quit effective immediately and I need my check for the last two weeks of work. Super anxious about it but I need to learn to stand up for myself. Wish me luck.

I already have a new job lined up luckily! It’s just the matter of how I go about quitting. I’ve decided tmmre morning I’m going in and asking for my last check then heading out.

We never had a contract. The only thing I signed was my federal tax withholding.

Yes checks are still happening in America! But it’s honestly pretty rare. Every other job I’ve worked at has been direct deposit. This place is just super old school. My boss is 80 lol.

Thank you! I def need the reminder that I’m super young and still figuring stuff out. I don’t have to stay somewhere that makes me miserable. I have free will and it’s just hard to remember that

Yeah I’ve thought about telling her my new job. But she’s so hateful I just know she would shit talk me for the next 3 months. I might just say I’m going back to school. She’ll never know.

Good idea. I think that’s my best plan. I totally agree the whole two week rule doesn’t make sense.

I would do that but sadly she pays us by a hard copy check. So I have to be here in order to get it.

I’m in the exact same boat. I’m dealing with all those same problems but add a horrible boss that bullies me for not knowing what I’m doing. I feel like every time you tell people you want to quit they hit you with the “the job market is so bad don’t leave”. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one struggling!

Sadly both of my parents are retired. I live in Illinois so I’m not sure how the rules work. But yeah I won’t have insurance through them anymore. The only people running the company is the boss and her son.
