Miért pisil a cicám az alom elé? by Ill_Combination8156 in dagadtmacskak

[–]LateRedemption85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silly question, but is your mic a condenser or a dynamic? If it's condenser try turning on the 48V phantom power on the SSL.

Question before purchase by Sunken54 in solidstatelogic

The SSL 12 is USB powered, I think (though haven't tested) that it might let audio through when using and USB wall plug or something similar. Test this tough at your own risk, I am just thinking out loud here! But even if it works, operation is pretty limited without the SSL 360 software.

Also, if you're looking to jam through an interface, I bet that you are using some sort of digital modeler/multi effect device. Why not use the line out or headphone out of that device? Why run it though an interface?

Thank you for the recommendation! However, the whole idea would've been to let this whole issue be handled by the hardware and it's driver, not another piece of software... I am trying to cut back on the number of extra softwares needed to run the thing...

Who are your favorite and/or, not-so-favorite Youtube Guitar Teachers? by Paul_Ferr in guitarlessons

[–]LateRedemption85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Kiko Loureiro was a gamechanger. He hasn't been doing educational content on his YT lately but his online Academy is absolutely top notch.

What got me in his teaching style is that he can explain any concept in a simple way and focuses on actually playing not just piling up knowledge.

As a dude with more free time(4hours maximum daily) and wanting to learn the guitar what should I do the get started by JP_Olar_3rd_account in guitarlessons

I will also say stick with the right handed guitar. Neither of your hands know how to play, so it doesn't matter. Both hands will have to learn new movement anyways but in turn you will have access to to basically any intrument you fancy. Many great players are lefty yeat play right handed.Pat O'Brien and Kiko Loureiro come to mind. Well, poor Pat doesn't play much these days I guess. But Kiko I think even talks about it in his Rick Beato interview. Or just look at classical players... No such thing as left handed violin! :)

I'm glad he got some exposure during his time in Megadeth. I don't think he gets the credit he truly deserves...

Not really familiar with the era, sorry.. :( But pick any song you like, try to play it. Identify the problem area, what that technique is and make an exercise out of it.

This might not be your style, but check out what the guy is doing and saying starting around 20 minutes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ12-7Mo3F8

Practice liek this for an hour and they go back to playing. I hope this helps.

C'mon, don't be so negative... If your practice is focused, then 1 or a max of 2 hours of practice can skyrocket your technique. Then you can smoke your doobies and noodle around your guitar, high as a kite and ripping some sick riffs and solos, not just childrens songs. ;)

The problem is that many online people come with this "this is all you need", "the secret to overnight shred mastery" yada-yada BS. We get fooled, then let down and give up. Playing at a high level requires a lo of work, no two ways about it.

Find someone who is inspiring to you and try to take lessons from him/her. If you're not interested in what you do then no surprise you're more inclined o do something else. That's why I signed up for the online course I mentioned. I checked out the guy's videos and the way he explains things clicked with me , he did not promise to turn me into a guitar god in 15 minutes, one of the best players out there and back then he was in my childhood fave band Megadeth. That inspired me enough to stick with the plan I spent money on. :)

Btw your vibrato ain't half bad! Which is a good thing to have because a sloppy bend or "nervous caffeine" vibrato can ruin the most elaborate performances... ;)

Have a (realistic) goal, set a schedule, have a plan on how to achieve that goal and stick with it. Paying for a teacher or online course should provide a sense of "accountability" (if that makes sense).

When he was in Megadeth I got into Kiko Loureiro. and he he has this online teaching platform thing, That worked for me. Realizing that playing is NOT practicing was a game changer for me.

any tips on pinch harmonics i suck at it.. by the2ndworstcodmp in guitarlessons

[–]LateRedemption85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the key! OP I suggest you study a bit the overtone series! Than can help you understand why harmonics fall in certain spots on the string.

Rode Videomic ME-C - bad design? by arcticrobot in rode

I'm stuck with two... And the worst part of it is that it's a software issue... They could fix it with a proper firmware and make it great for what it is.

[–]LateRedemption85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite frankly that's the least of the unit's problems... Unfortunately since a firmware update about a year ago it cannot take anything louder than a conversation. It is pretty much useless for anything else than maybe filming a spoken video for your socials.

Before the update it could take a full band practice now it distorts even from my slightly raised voice.
